I recently saw Code 2 and think it is an interesting film. The reason for this is that at the screening I didn't really enjoy it. It seemed to just pass me by and I felt it was a little too earnest and self conscious. The strange thing is that I kept thinking about it in the week that followed and have since changed my opinion dramatically. The film deals with some pretty heavy issues such as abandonment and depression but it's set in this strangely empty suburban environment where emotions are effectively stifled or never brought to the surface. The fact that this film doesn't have a big bang or even a dramatic moment actually works for it in the long run because the film kind of makes you feel as numb as it's lead character. My main problem with this film is that the supporting cast is much much stronger than the insipid lead who is so weak you can't possibly care about him. At least he seems to look confused a lot which is great but by the end of the film he seems to be as bewildered as the audience who don't quite seem to know what exactly is going on. If this was intended the direction is impeccable, if not this actor just didn't get the character he was playing or the film he was playing in. That said, this film is a keeper because regardless of it's eccentricities there is nothing else out there quite like it. If you are looking for any answer or reason behind this little opus you'll be disappointed. I think it's only real point is that humans behave very strangely indeed.

Well, all I can say is 'where are his other films? and why haven't I got them on DVD at home?'. This film is a must see for anyone with any form of cinematic or artistic taste whatsoever. I must admit, I went into the screening a bit skeptical, yet remaining quite open minded, and it blew my mind. Gaudion takes you on an emotional and spiritual journey like no other in the 14 minutes of this film. I really connected with george, and the emotions and confusion he goes through. Why isn't Craig Gaudion making more movies? Or is he? I'm really hanging out for anything next to come from Mr.Gaudion, lets hope its soon! If you haven't seen this movie you're wasting your life and might as well end it.

Peace
