20th Century Studios has been trying to get a new “Flash Gordon” movie in development years before the merger with Disney with directors such as Matthew Vaughn (“X-Men: First Class“) and Julius Avery (“Overlord“) attached at various points to bring a fresh incarnation of the pulp sci-fi hero after multiple incarnations over the years including the beloved/campy film from 1980 that featured a score and theme song from the British rock band, Queen.

With Kingsman: The Golden Circle finished, director Matthew Vaughn can start focusing his attention on other film projects that he's got in the pipeline. One of those movies is a new feature film adaptation of Flash Gordon, which he's been signed on to direct since 2015.
During a recent interview with Collider, the director talked about the film. First and foremost, he says that he's still developing it. However, he had to rethink the direction that he wants to take the film because he said that Guardians of the Galaxy stole what he wanted to do.
"We’ve been working on it. For me, the only problem with Flash Gordon is Guardians [of the Galaxy] kind of stole what I would have liked to have done with it. You’ve got Star Wars, you’ve got Guardians, so you’ve got to have your own space opera, but you have to find something that...

Plans for a reboot of Flash Gordon on the big screen have hit problems in recent times. Matthew Vaughn signed on to direct the “Flash Gordon” remake in 2015 and there’s kind of been radio silence since — now, the “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” director says he’s still developing the project but a recent blockbuster threw a monkey wrench into his idea. “Yeah, we’ve been working on it,” he told Collider. “For me, the only problem with ‘Flash Gordon’ is ‘Guardians ’ kind of stole what I would have liked to have done with it.” The filmmaker, whose credits include 2010’s “Kick-Ass” and 2011’s “X-Men: First Class,” said that it’s taking him a bit longer than he.

Comic writer Mark Millar has got another comic book that is going to get the big screen treatment. According to THR, he has teamed up with producers Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum to bring his latest comic, Empress, to the big screen.
The story centers on “the wife of a galactic dictator (a la Ming the Merciless from Flash Gordon) who makes the decision to leave her evil husband and take her three kids with her. With the aid of a bodyguard, she escapes with her brood — Aine, her 15-year-old daughter who wants to be with her father; Adam, her gentle soul of a 10-year-old son who she knows would not survive the trials ahead to be an elite ruler; and Puck, her 18-month-old — to her home world. But the dictator husband, with armies at his disposal, isn’t going to let her go without a fight.”

It.s been just over 25 years since Flash Gordon was released to mostly impressive reviews, as well as a healthy box office return. But, despite coming just three years after Star Wars: A New Hope and seven months after its sequel, The Empire Strikes Back, Flash Gordon never spawned any follow ups of its own. But that finally looks set to change in the very near future, because screenwriter Mark Protosevich has confirmed that he is currently hard at work on a Flash Gordon script for 20th Century Fox. Mark Protosevich took to his Facebook page (via HitFix) to make this revelation, confirming that the film would be unique from any other version of Flash Gordon that you.ve seen. However, he obviously stopped short of giving away any further details regarding the project, as that would probably have resulted in him being instantly dismissed. Protosevich wrote, I can...

Flash Gordon has been trying for years to make his way back to the big screen, without much success. The Flash Gordon movie got a big boost last year when Matthew Vaughn signed on […]

"Oldboy," "Poseidon" and "I Am Legend" scribe Mark Protosevich has been hired to pen a new draft of the upcoming reboot of the "Flash Gordon" property at 20th Century Fox. Matthew Vaughn signed on to direct the project last year.
Protosevich revealed the news on Facebook (via Hitfix and says: "I can't wait to get started and if you're curious about the take? I'm not saying a word. All I'll say is this - it will be nothing like any version of Flash Gordon you've seen."
Protosevich certainly has sci-fi experience as he previously wrote early drafts of both "John Carter" and "Thor". J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay previously took a crack at the "Flash Gordon" script based on a treatment by George Nolfi.

When George Lucas first broached the subject of following up American Graffiti, he proposed a bigscreen version of Flash Gordon, which was owned by Universal at the time. Instead, he went on to make the first Star Wars film for 20th Century Fox. Of course, Fox no longer has anything to do with Star Wars, which was sold to Disney, and Fox could use a little space opera magic of their own right about now. And, in no small bit of circular irony, it appears that it is the very property that sent George Lucas running to Fox in the first place that they're turning to for relief. On his Facebook page today, screenwriter Mark Protosevich announced that he's writing Flash Gordon for 20th Century Fox, with Matthew Vaughn attached to direct. That is just plain great news. Could Matthew Vaughn break his streak and actually follow one of his films with a sequel?
It seems like that could happen, according to an interview he did with Yahoo on Thursday. Vaughn told the site that he is working on a script for a sequel to his hit spy film, Kingsman: The Secret Service, with directing being a possibility.
“I’m writing it next door at the moment. If I think I can get the script good enough, then we are making it,” he said. “We are doing our damndest to make that happen.”
Kingsman was a bonafide hit to the tune of $403 million worldwide and a sequel was assumed once the movie went over so well with audiences. The first film starred Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong, Michael Caine, and introduced Taron Edgerton to the public and was a homage to the spy movies of the 70s and 80s.

With over $400 million in worldwide box-office and quite strong reviews, the question was not if Matthew Vaughn's spy spoof film "Kingsman: The Secret Service" would get a sequel, but rather when.
Murmurs began back in April that 20th Century Fox was already at work on it, and today Vaughn himself has confirmed to Yahoo UK that it is happening. In fact he may do something he has never done before - direct a sequel to one of his own films:

Unsurprisingly given the success of the first film, 20th Century Fox is going forward with a sequel to Matthew Vaughn's "Kingsman: The Secret Service" says The Wrap.
The Taron Egerton and Colin Firth-led spy action spoof just passed a whopping $400 million at the global box office, outpacing all expectations and far exceeding its $80 million production budget.
The studio has yet to make an official announcement about the sequel, or setup a time table as to when it would go into production.
Vaughn's slate is fairly full with the "Flash Gordon" reboot on the way, an adaptation of the comic "The Golden Age" for Fox, and is currently producing the Eddie 'The Eagle' biopic which also stars Egerton.

If you’re a hardcore fanboy, you probably wondered why in the hell director Matthew Vaughn left the “X-Men” series (he directed ‘First Class’) to go and make a spy action comedy film? Well, the reason is $400 million dollars. Yes, that’s how much Vaughn’s surprise hit “Kingsman: The Secret Service” has grossed worldwide. That’s a pretty solid number for an R-rated comedic spy actioner with a relatively modest budget of only $81 million. Sure, the movie only grossed $126 million domestically, but the international market is where it’s at anyhow. The Wrap reports that 20th Century Fox is going ahead with a sequel and putting it into development. There’s no word on a writer yet, and there’s no release date thankfully, but it is a thing that will eventually happen. No word on whether Matthew Vaughn will return to the director’s chair as he’s...

Director Matthew Vaughn and comic book co-creator Mark Millar have said before they would be interested in making a sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service if the original film performed well at the box office, and after the film crossed the $400 million worldwide over the weekend, news arrives today that a sequel is very much in the works. There is yet to be an official announcement from the folks at 20th Century Fox, and we have no word on a timetable either, but The Wrap reports individuals with knowledge of the project have told them the film is a green-light go. Logic dictates we'll likely see the next installment in a couple years or so, though that depends on several factors including whether Vaughn indeed plans to return and if he winds up taking on the studio's Flash Gordon reboot/remake/sequel/whatever-it-is. I have to admit, despite the surprisingly...

Buoyed by an impressive $400 million box office haul, Matthew Vaughn’s R-rated sleeper hit Kingsman: The Secret Service has today secured a sequel, with TheWrap confirming its existence via individuals working on the nascent follow-up.
In truth, a continuation has been on the cards for some time, with early reports suggesting that a new chapter in the spy series could take the action Stateside. Alas, it’s too early to tell what Fox has up its well-tailored sleeve in terms of plot, or whether Vaughn would return at the helm considering that the filmmaker is now attached to the Flash Gordon reboot.
Based on Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ eponymous comic book series, the graphical novel is yet to publish its second volume, and considering how lucrative The Secret Service proved to be earlier this year, it’s unlikely that Fox will wait around to long before pushing ahead with the sequel.

Right around the time that Kingsman: The Secret Service was heading to theaters, director Matthew Vaughn was already talking about ideas for the sequel. However, the film had not yet proven to be a box office success. Thankfully, audiences turned out to see the fun spy adventure and just this past weekend, the film crossed $400 million worldwide. And The Wrap reports that was enough for Fox to officially start developing a sequel to the film that starred Colin Firth and newcomer Taron Egerton. However, at this time, it's not clear if Vaughn will be back in the director's chair since he has a lot on his plate for the future. Vaughn was just recently lined up to direct a new take on Flash Gordon, also set up at 20th Century Fox, and he's also involved with the Olympic biopic Eddie the Eagle, which also stars Taron Egerton, this time teamed up with Hugh Jackman.

Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of Mark Millar's The Secret Service was an incredible success early this year, offering up the first genuine must-see movie of the year. So it should come as no surprise that a sequel is now in the works.
I thoroughly loved Kingsman: The Secret Service. It works in a way that so few films can get away with. It's so uniquely perfect that there's a part of me who doesn't even want a second film. Yet, having made over $400 million on mere $81 million budget, it's a no-brainer that the studios are anxious to develop another movie. Since the film's debut, there's been rumblings about a follow-up, and The Wrap has heard that it's officially happening:

Fans of Matthew Vaughn's spectacularly Ott take on Mark Millar's The Secret Service will be happy to hear a sequel is in the works at 20th Century Fox. The first film passed $400 Million at the global box office just this past weekend, so when you also take into account how well the movie went over with fans and (most) critics, it was really a forgone conclusion. No word on whether Vaughn will return to direct, though he has quite a bit on his plate with the Flash Gordon reboot, an Eddie "The Eage" Edwards biopic, and the Wrap reckons he may also be in line to helm an adaptation of James Robinson's The Golden Age. Vaughn has previously hinted that a return for Colin Firth is a possibility, and we'll assume Taron Egerton will be reprising the role of Eggsy.

Matthew Vaughn approaching the Flash Gordon reboot? It may be so - and that's likely to have a knock-on for Kingsman 2...
Director Matthew Vaughn has scored one of the big surprise hits of 2015 thus far, as Kingsman: The Secret Service has thus far grossed just over $390m worldwide, including $124m in the Us. Given the relatively modest $80m production bill for the movie, Kingsman is a risk that's paid off handsomely, and it's little secret that Vaughn wants to make a sequel to the movie.
But if he still does, it looks like it might not be the next project on his slate. Instead, he's now said to be in talks to direct the long-mooted big screen reboot of Flash Gordon.

To most contemporary audiences, "Flash Gordon" is probably most recently remembered for one of two things: the 1980 movie being endlessly referenced in Seth MacFarlane's "Ted," or as a short-lived TV series on The Sci-Fi Channel in 2007, which lasted one season. Well, last year, Fox announced they were bringing the character back to the big screen, and indeed, the wheels are in motion. THR reports that Matthew Vaughn ("X-Men: First Class," "Kingsman: The Secret Service") is in negotiations to direct the new film. George Nolfi ("The Adjustment Bureau") penned the treatment, with J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay ("Star Trek 3") writing the script for the sci-fi galactic tale. One can't help but wonder if Fox saw the mega-success of "Guardians Of The Galaxy" and got more confident that they could make a new version work much better than the super campy 1980 effort. It's almost exactly a year since we last heard anything about the new Flash Gordon currently developing at Fox. Speaking to 1980's Flash and recent Ted star Sam Jones, however, Den Of Geek have quietly picked up a possible scoop. They've chosen not to trumpet it, probably because it sounds, if not ridiculous, then hugely unlikely. But according to Jones himself, the Fox Flash Gordon is not a reboot or a remake, but a possible sequel."Matthew Reilly [VP of production at Fox Studios] acquired the screenplay rights to Flash Gordon last year," says Jones, "and he hired [producer] John Davis and his staff to write the script. They’re looking to bring out a sequel actually. I met with Matt, we’re in talks about that. A lot of people over the years, including Stephen Sommers and Neal H. Moritz, have acquired the screenplay rights, but for whatever reason they did not do a follow up on the option.

Writer/director Roberto Orci has already spoken about the planned trajectory for Star Trek 3 saying the next installment will take the crew of the Starship Enterprise "closer to the original series characters" as they "set off on their five-year mission." Now Zachary Quinto, who will again reprise his role as Spock, reiterated Orci's sentiments in front of an audience on Friday at the Television Critics Press Tour (via Variety). "I think the five-year mission will be a part of this next film in some way... We're coming up on the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic sci-fi series in entertainment history so it's inherently an ongoing story," Quinto said. "But I do think that we'll feel some sense of evolution in these characters that's been building through the first few films." This news does nothing for me as Paramount has decided to hand the keys to Star Trek 3 to a man that has never directed a single television episode or feature film... Roberto Orci. I have no idea what they are thinking, particularly considering Star Trek Into Darkness was a massive letdown compared to the first film and both of those were at least directed by someone with some experience behind the camera, but J.J. Abrams is off directing Star Wars: Episode VII so I guess they got the next best thing. All Orci has experience doing is writing films like Star Trek Into Darkness, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Cowboys & Aliens and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Best of luck. Considering it has become commonplace for blockbuster films to just exist rather than have any sense of directorial signature I guess I shouldn't be shocked, but I guess if we...

Sarah Gadon knows a thing or two about freaky movies. A favorite of the Cronenberg brood -- she starred in David's "A Dangerous Method" and "Cosmopolis" and is slated to star in his next effort "Maps To The Stars" while she also featured in Brandon's "Antiviral" -- the actress is on her way up, and now has a franchise movie to call her own. Universal is now in talks with Gadon for the female lead in "Dracula" aka The Movie That Will Make Luke Evans Happen. Penned by "Flash Gordon" writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, this is an origin story thing, showing how young Prince Vlad sacrifices himself at the hands of a bloodthirsty sultan and becomes the first vampire. No word yet on what Gadon's role exactly is, but undoubtedly, she'll be under Vlad's gaze or spell or get bitten on whatever. Okay, so we're not excited for this movie,...

So, is Luke Evans on the cusp of breaking out on the big screen? Lord knows the actor has been paying his dues. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Breck Eisner (The Crazies, Sahara) is in talks to direct the feature over at Relativity. This is the next thing in a pile that Eisner’s been either attached to or considering – remakes of Flash Gordon, The Brood and Escape From New York. He’s a welcome addition to the production, but this thing is still ridiculous and terrible-sounding. Even without Taylor Lautner.

Since director Alex Proyas’ motion-capture, big screen adaptation of the Milton poem, Paradise Lost, was axed by Legendary Pictures back in February due to the prohibitive cost of the film, Proyas has been busy lining up his next project.
THR reports that Proyas (I, Robot, Dark City) is in talks to helm Gods of Egypt, a fantasy film for Summit Entertainment set in the times of ancient Egypt. The script was written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who have worked on developing Dracula: Year Zero and also Flash Gordon. “The story sees a mortal, a god and a goddess unite to fight an evil force in ancient Egypt.”
Proyas is producing under his Mystery Clock Cinema banner with Basil Iwanyk’s (Clash of the Titans) Thunder Road Productions.

Dark City director Alex Proyas is in negotiations to direct a new fantasy action film for Summit Entertainment called Gods of Egypt. All we know so far is that the story is set in ancient Egypt, and it follows a mortal, a god and a goddess who team up to fight an evil force that is obviously causing some big problems.
The script was written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who also worked on the scripts for Dracula: Year Zero and Flash Gordon.
There's not really any other information on the movie, but I'm a fan of Proyas' work, and it sounds like it has potential of being epically cool. The director was previously developing a film called Paradise Lost that is now dead, and was also recently attached to direct a film based on the 1942 novel by Robert Heinlein called The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag.

That's right; it's a grudge match to the very end! In one corner we have the director of The Crow, Dark City, I, Robot, and Knowing (yes, Knowing) - Alex Proyas! In the other, weighing in at whatever the hell they want, from the mystical desert - the Gods of Egypt!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Proyas is in negotiations to direct Gods of Egypt, Summit’s fantasy set in the land of the Pharaoh. The story sees a mortal, a god, and a goddess uniting to fight an evil force in ancient Egypt.
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who have worked on the in-development Dracula: Year Zero and Flash Gordon, wrote the script. Basil Iwanyk (Clash of the Titans) is producing with his Thunder Road Productions along with Proyas’ Mystery Clock Cinema banner.

If all went according to plan, Alex Proyas would likely currently be in the middle of production for his big-budget blockbuster Paradise Lost with Bradley Cooper. But with that project falling apart, he jumped to the drama The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag, which he is currently set to shoot this fall. While that continues development, the Dark City director is still keeping his options open for future projects.
Variety reports that one of these will be Gods of Egypt, described as following a “magical quest” taken by a mighty God and a puny thief. The Summit Entertainment project, which takes place in “the legendary world of great pyramids and sphinxes” will be written by Proyas, along with relative newcomers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who have completed scripts for the yet-to-be-produced Flash Gordon and Dracula Year Zero, a previous project Proyas was attached to.

A couple of years ago we were following a project at Universal called Dracula Year Zero, which had Alex Proyas directing, Sam Worthington starring. It stay in development for a while, even preparing to shoot, but was shut down over budget. Proyas went on to other projects (like Paradise Lost), so did Worthington. But Deadline is now saying Dracula Year Zero is, indeed, back from the dead, but with a new team. Michael De Luca (Moneyball) will still develop as producer, he's got Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (Missile Command, Flash Gordon) writing a new draft of the script, with Gary Shore (The Draft) now in negotiations to direct. This seems like an odd project to revive, but Deadline reassures us: "it sure looks like this movie is back on track." Like Frank Miller's "Batman: Year One", Dracula Year Zero retells the origin of the dark vampire lord known as Dracula.

[1] Chernin Entertainment is close to a deal to acquire a pitch from screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Deadline [2] is reporting that the deal is in mid to high six figures, and that Pirates/Rango helmer Gore Verbinski would produce. The yet to be titled project is being described as a futuristic Jungle Book, whatever that means. Sarama and Sharpless are probably best known for developing board game turned movie adaptations of Clue and Missile Command, as well as the announced Flash Gordon redo and Dracula Year Zero (which I've heard great things about). Walt Disney Pictures, who has released a bunch of Jungle Book movies, was also bidding on the property. Note: The illustration above, by Phil Longson [3], has nothing to do with this project. But I thought the imagery of a boy and his giant robot to be cool. [1] http://www.slashfilm.com/wp/wp-content/images/ZZ374FB52C.

Universal Pictures has quietly passed on Clue, an adaptation of the whodunit board game from Hasbro. However, the attached director, Gore Verbinski (Pirates 1-3, Rango) still plans to direct the murder mystery with funding from the toy company and new writers.
Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who wrote an un-produced Flash Gordon redo, will write the script, according to Deadline. Naturally, the writers, Verbinski, and Hasbro “came up with that retains the murder mystery spirit of the board game, but broadens the setting to a global stage.” How that concept will fit with the game, which is contained to a multi-roomed mansion, remains to be seen.
You may remember the studio targeted seven Hasbro properties for movies, but was only contractually obligated to deliver four films in their six-year partnership with Hasbro, signed in February 2008. That includes 2012’s Battleship directed by Peter Berg, Kevin Lima’s “epic,” undated Candy Land movie,...

Ever since the first 'Transformers' film hit in 2007, studios have thought it wise to bring other Hasbro properties to the big screen. In 2008, Universal signed an exclusive deal with Hasbro to make seven of their properties into theatrical films: 'Monopoly,' 'Ouija,' 'Magic, the Gathering,' 'Stretch Armstrong,' 'Clue,' 'Candy Land,' and 'Battleship,' which just debuted its first teaser trailer not too long ago.A few of these projects have fallen by the wayside: 'Monopoly,' 'Magic, the Gathering,' and 'Clue.' That doesn't necessarily mean that they're dead, however. In the case of 'Clue,' Deadline reports that Hasbro is funding the project themselves with development studio, Blind Wink. They've made some progress with it as well. Gore Verbinski, director of the first three 'Pirates of the Carribean' films, 'Rango,' and the upcoming,...

Director Gore Verbinski's adaptation of the board game Clue has reportedly been dropped by Universal Studios. Universal Pictures has quietly dropped "Clue", the third of seven Hasbro board game properties which the studio contracted to make into movies reports Deadline.
The studio has also reportedly dumped plans for films based on "Monopoly" and "Magic: The Gathering" which have both been in development for a few years. Despite this, the projects are said to still be alive with Hasbro funding the development and production of "Clue" with Gore Verbinski (the first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" films) still attached to direct and produce.
"Flash Gordon" scribes Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama have been hired to write a new "Clue" script based on a take by the producers that "retains the murder mystery spirit of the board game" but shifts the setting to a global stage.
Universal is still committed to the four other projects with Hasbro, the first being next Summer's action epic "Battleship". Also in the...

Universal Pictures has been working on a live-action "Clue" movie, based on the Hasbro board game, for many years. In 2009, the studio pushed the film forward by attaching "Pirates of the Caribbean" director Gore Verbinski to helm. Deadline is now reporting that Universal is no longer pursuing "Clue," a property that the studio signed on to make, along with other Hasbro properties. Apparently "Magic The Gathering" and Ridley Scott's "Monopoly" have also been dropped. None of these projects are actually dead. In fact, Hasbro has decided to fund the development of "Clue" and is still planning to have Verbinski bring it to the big screen. The company has just hired "Flash Gordon" writers Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazame to pen the script for the murder mystery story. Universal is still involved in other Hasbro properties like "Battleship" (directed Peter Berg), "Stretch Armstrong" (Taylor Lautner starring), "Candy Land" (written by...

Apes will rise this Friday, and you're going to want to be there to see it happen.
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" already has some seriously strong critical buzz going for it, and having seen a preview screening of the movie earlier today I'd say that it's warranted. But if you still aren't sold on the second attempt at a "Planet of the Apes" reboot, Next Movie has five clips to whet your appetite for this weekends lesson on "evolution = revolution."

Universal Saves Robert Zemeckis' Imagemovers
Hollywood has proven over the past decade that it is the place for second chances to happen, and Robert Zemeckis' production company Imagemovers just got a big one. Imagemovers, which was behind the flop "Mars Needs Moms," was shut down by Disney in 2010, but now The Hollywood Reporter has...

Before you get too excited, keep in mind that the new adaptation of the Clue board game is not in fact cancelled. Though Deadline is reporting that Universal has dropped the adaptation, to be directed by Gore Verbinski, in fact Verbinski is still sticking with it, and the game's manufacturer Hasbro is taking over the development and plans to produce the film alone with Verbinski's company, Blind Wink. It's another step in Hasbro's development as a serious force in film production, and probably a smart move on both ends, as Universal already has four Hasbro board game adaptations in the works and has yet to see how any of them pan out at the box office. To focus on Clue for a minute, it's not just that things are still happening, but they're making actual progress-- Flash Gordon writers Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama has been brought on to work...

Clue has been dropped by Universal, but fear not the case will still be solved thanks to the help of Hasbro and Gore Verbinski. Hasbro has made a ton of cash lately from Transformers: Dark of the Moon. They also have Battleship, Stretch Armstrong, Ouija and Candyland in production and/or development they are not worried about going broke anytime soon. Clue is set to move on with the help of Gore Verbinski‘s production company Blink Wink.
Deadline reports that Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama have been hired to pen the screenplay. They recently wrote Flash Gordon and will soon "take the draft that Verbinski and his fellow producers came up with that retains the murder mystery spirit of the board game, but broadens the setting to a global stage."Hasbro and Universal still have a great relationship, despite deciding to drop Clue. Universal Pictures no longer has plans to develop the Hasbro board game Clue into a feature film, Deadline reports. Gore Verbinksi, though, remains on board the property and plans to continue developing it through his Blind Wink productions. To this end, Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (the upcoming Flash Gordon remake) have been brought aboard to rewrite the screenplay. Previously adapted as a film in 1985, Clue was originally released as a game in 1948, created in England by a retired legal clerk named Anthony Pratt. Though the game itself (and the previous film) has its setting confined to a single house, the updated version has been described by Blind Wink's Jonathan Krauss as, "a global thriller and transmedia event that uses deductive reasoning as its storytelling...

If you were looking forward to the Escape from New York reboot that New Line and Warner Bros have been working on, you will have to wait for a long time. The studios will not be moving forward on their option to revive the John Carpenter classic. The original 1981 film starred Kurt Russell as Snake, a tough convict dropped into a futuristic New York that has been turned into a post-apocalyptic maximum security prison. He's charged with rescuing the president (Donald Pleasence), who is held hostage by the prison kingpin (Isaac Hayes) after his plane within the city walls. Snake's offered a pardon if he's successful, but fitted with a lethal device that will kill him if he tries to run or misses the deadline.
