A landmark documentary

One of the best documentaries out there. Covers the entire history of British/American relations from a Brit point of view. Created in 1988, so it includes priceless interviews with people who lived through World War I. Their memories are highly entertaining, especially the British ladies who remember the soldier from Montana who wanted to take one of them back to his ranch (her mother strongly disapproved). "There's just something about American men.." she says. Pause. "Still is!" says the other. The reminiscing Brits are a obviously romantic about America, but it's so much fun to watch it doesn't interfere with the larger narrative of the often strained relationship between the nations who still remain close despite being "an ocean apart." Maybe a little too admiring of the USA -- at times you would think the Brits have an inferiority complex -- but it is indeed an English point of view. A true gem. Haven't viewed it in over 20 years. Can't find this on DVD. What a shame.
