Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this new feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes .

Sex & Nudity

A husband pulls on one of his boots, asks for the other one his wife is wearing, takes it off her foot and kisses her bare knee while caressing her thigh (it is implied that they have sex).

Several women wear low-cut dresses that reveal cleavage and other women wear skimpy clothing. Men are shown bare-chested in several scenes.

A woman is told to remove her pants and she is left wearing a tunic that reveals her bare legs.

A man hiding in a lower level looks up through floorboards to see under a woman's tunic (we don't see anything). Another man looks up and spies a man's genitals (again, we don't see anything). The second man looks disgusted.

A man pushes a woman against a pole and kisses her forcefully

Characters kiss each other throughout the film.

A man whispers into a woman's ear and she moans and swoons.

Violence & Gore

Pirates have sea-creature features (some more than others): one has an octopus for a head, with many tentacles and translucent flesh, one has a hammerhead shark head with pointy shark teeth, one has an eel head, one has lobster claws for hands, one has spiny crab legs on its back, and one has a puffer fish face with pointy tines; other pirates are shown to be "a part of a ship" so that they speak and move but they are incorporated into the body of the ship -- they can and do pull themselves away (with loud crunches and sometimes leaving pieces behind) but cannot leave the ship.

After an explosion a man is pushed against a ship wall and impaled with a large piece of wood (we see him on the floor with the blood-stained wood sticking out of his abdomen and we see him die).

A man is run through with a sword (we see the point push out his back, he collapses to the floor and dies).

A man's hand is shot off and the hand and a chest he was holding fall to the deck of a ship.

A man is shot through the shoulder (we see a bit of blood on the wound).

A sea-creature pirate forces his tentacles into the nose, ears and mouth of a man killing him (we hear squishing and a crunch). A sea-creature pirate that has the head of an eel attacks a man, and we see the man's head going into the mouth of the eel.

A dead man is strapped to a barrel, is pulled out of the water and we see his very bloody back where birds have apparently pecked at him (we see another body floating on a barrel in the distance with many birds flying around and standing on him).

We see a dead man lying in a pool of water, and when he is turned over we see a large spike in his mouth and sticking out the top of his head.

A man stands over a woman who's lying on the ground and shoots her (we see her feet twitch).

A man is stabbed in the heart and lies dying on the deck of a ship. A man holds a bloody still-beating heart in his hand and a dagger in the other, and he stabs the heart.

A man holds a shrunken head, presumably of another man's mother.

Many soldiers push their way into a room, and a fight breaks out: we see several people run through with swords, a woman is shot in the head (we see the bloody hole), some kick and punch each other, and an explosive device blows up.

A large fight involves many soldiers and sea-creature pirates, and it includes a lot of swordplay with slashing and stabbing. A man punches another man, a gun is shot and a fight breaks out with many people punching and kicking each other.

A man and a sea-creature pirate fight with swords and the man cuts a few tentacles off the pirate. We see a blood-covered, still-beating heart in a box.

A man with a dagger stands over a dead man and it is implied that he cuts out his heart (we see the man with a large, jagged scar on his chest later).

A man who has grown into the side of a ship pulls himself away and his brain is exposed (it wobbles around like Jell-O); then the man holds the brain in his hand and licks it.

Several men are shown writhing and bloody after a cannon blast.

A monkey is shot out of a cannon and we see it with small flames on its back and body before it strikes a creature (the monkey is fine).

A man shoots a gun and is thrown back into a hole from the recoil.

A large pirate ship opens fire on other ships, and we see large holes in the hulls of ships, and men are thrown overboard.

A ship falls over what's supposed to be the "end of the world" and people on board struggle to hang onto something (we see a few fall off and into the abyss but we then see them washing up on the shore of a seemingly deserted island).

A bomb explodes throwing many soldiers off a pier and into water. A pyrotechnic device is lit, it flies across a crowded dock, and it strikes a building where there are other fireworks and causes a large explosion.

Two ships sail into a maelstrom, they circle around each other and fire cannons at each other; people on one ship run back and forth across causing the ship to tip over and in the process one man falls overboard and another falls and is caught by some netting but is then crushed by a cannon when it falls on him (we do not see him being crushed).

Two ships surround another ship and open fire on it, we see the ship being splintered, people are thrown overboard, people are pinned under rubble and one man is engulfed in flames when the ship explodes (we see his body land in a flag in the water).

We see many ships in flames after a pirate attack. A large ship fires on another ship repeatedly and a man throws himself from one ship to the other.

A sea creature pirate grabs a woman around the throat with his large lobster claw.

A severed tentacle slithers across the deck of a ship.

People on a ship that has sailed into a very cold place are covered with frost and they quiver; one man touches his foot, which is frozen solid, and snaps off his big toe (we see the toe separate and he holds it in his hand).

A woman holds a man's hand and it withers and decays (it returns to normal when she releases him).

While hallucinating, a man shoots another man, a man stabs another man (we see the sword run him through and hear a crunch, but no blood is visible).

An eel sea creature pirate tries to eat a man, who slashes its head off (we see the head separate, but no blood is visible).

Several people hold each other at gunpoint, they pull their triggers and the guns spit water; one man strikes another on the head with a gun and the man complains about the blow hurting.

A man is punched hard in the stomach, a man punches another man hard in the face, and a man is struck in the head with a shovel and lies on the ground unconscious.

A man pushes a woman against a pole and kisses her forcefully. She bites him and he pulls away (no blood is shown).

Two women fight with shoving and slapping over a man. Two women slap a man in the face, and the man slaps another man in the face.

Several men hold others at gun and bayonet point. Several people in several scenes are held with daggers or swords to their throats.

A woman in a small boat is threatened by three men. She grabs one and holds a knife to his throat.

Many people on a capsized ship dangle from rigging while under water, they gag and cough when the water washes away from them and they then get back to the surface.

Two men in a rowboat are overturned when struck by a large wave (they are OK).

A woman is told to take off her weapons and she has many guns and an explosive device.

People talk about shooting a man and cutting out his tongue.

We hear that a woman killed a man.

A man talks about people knowing that they face execution.

An enormous sea creature lies dead on the shore (a couple of men climb on it and poke it).

We see several men in a bathhouse that appear to have growths on their skin, while others are heavily tattooed.

A man picks up a wooden eye, puts it in his mouth, takes it out, pushes it into another man's empty eye socket (we hear a squish) and then taps him on the back of the head to straighten it.

A man with a cleaver beheads fish.

Profanity

Infrequent mild language (e.g. bloody).

Items are burned in a bowl and a woman inhales the smoke. A man drinks from a jug of rum, two men drink alcohol, and a man carries a goblet that presumably contains alcohol. A man talks about liking rum and a man proclaims that he performed a dangerous feat "without one drop of rum."

A man has a thief lifted up from a vat of water where he has been tied to a pole and almost drowned. The man threatens to remove the thief's face, and moves toward him to carry out this threat.

Pirates go to "the land of the dead" and see ghostlike lost souls swimming below the surface. Later they also see dead souls on rowboats, drifting toward whatever eternity awaits them.

A young woman sees her own father's ghost and learns of his murder. She tries to rescue him, but is stopped by her companions, who are told that she will die if she attempts this.

An incantation is given and a human becomes inhumanly giant, threatening to break a ship in half and screaming incoherent curses at captors.

A line of people in shackles, including men, women, and one very young boy, are led to gallows where they are hung: we see nooses placed around their necks, and we see the hatches on the floor open and their feet fall through (we see feet twitching a couple of times). A soldier reads a death decree for them.

Soldiers carry a cart away from a hanging, overly full of dead bodies. Other soldiers make a pile of shoes and clothes, presumably from the corpses.
