Characters in search of a story

Jeyrani is a journalist turned director. He found immediate success with Red, his first movie which was a a pretty good Hitchcokian film noir. He then tried other genres, but not with the same success. Now, with Salade Fasl (Garden Salad), he returns to the film noir genre. Sadly, despite the presence of some of Iran's best current crop of actors, the end result is somewhat disappointing. Jeyrani has an assured way of creating interesting characters and rich dialogue. He has certainly delivered again on that front. The main weakness of this film is the script's structure. As a thriller, it is fairly devoid of tension and full of loop holes. As a social statement, it is uncertain. It does keep your interest though thanks to good work by Khosrow Shakibai, as a seasoned criminal, Leila Hatami, as a girl on the wrong side of the tracks, Mohamad Reza Sharifinia, type cast as a rich businessman in a dangerous liaison with Hatami, and Mahnaz Afshar as Sharifinia's wife. Worth watching if your expectations are not very high.

Idiotic story , too annoying.

***MILD SPOILERS*** This movie is horrible. Although, sadly, it had the ingredients to be good. Except for Excellent and marvelous Mahnaz Afshar; Khosro Shakibai, a great actor is waste in this movie, for this idiotic screenplay. Khosro Shakibai's play as Adel Mashreqi was fantastic. Mohamad Reza Sharifinia did fairly a good job. I am not a Big Fan of Leila Hatami. I think she ruined this movie with her Poor and stupid acting. Leila Hatami was awesome and really terrible. screenwriter and director salad-e fasl has thought viewer will be an idiot. this movie had big wrongs:

How come Mohamad Reza Sharifinia's character -Hamid Doostdar-exactly do prophesy that Leila Sazgar will kill her wife? by Adel Mashreqi who must accept.

Did he know Adel Mashreqi in prison?

How come polices understood Leila and Adel are killer?

before Leila come to spaghetti restaurant to meet Hamid Doostdar and he inform to Mahnaz Afshar's character.

If Leila was showing to Adel Mashreghi nurse-Mahnaz Afshar- she was killing instead of Hamid Doostdar's wife.

End of scene is funny:

why Leila didn't take nurse's weapon? and she fired her? whats nurse's reasons for commit to kill herself?

Why did Hamid Doostdar let Leila to go with bullet in her body from his home? Maybe in end of moments death of Leila is not important for him and forget Leila. And many reasonable questions about this disgraceful movie. please watch this movie at your own risk!

Story of a girl named Leila(Leila Hatami) who wants to change her life.She meets a man, but doesn't know that Adel (Khosro Shakibai) loves her so much.

I've always enjoyed Jeyrani's movies, cause they give me some kind of feeling like sympathy with the characters.Salade Fasl, i think, is his best.In my opinion, Khosro Shakibai did his best performance in his career and also Leila Hatami which was brilliant as usual.Jeyrani often directs his movies upon a rich scenario which mostly criticizes our society's problems and challenges.He chooses the best actors and actresses and they usually play the role brilliantly.I loved this movie and the main characters' performances. The mystery behind the movie was also fascinating. It recalled me of his movie, Shame Akhar (2002) which also had a mystery behind the main theme.I advice you to watch Salade Fasl at least once.You wont regret it. 10/10

Great Khosro Shakibayie

I am truly satisfied with this movie and to be honest it really got me, khosro Shakibayie (ADEL) did a great performance as usual and I assume it was him who made the movie spectacular, if he was in US he would have been Robert Deniro, I hope that Iranian people adore him. I think Leyla Hatamy acting was good as well as Sharifiniya, but unfortunately there was a misunderstanding at end of the movie and the director could have finished it better but over all it shows how important the money is for living and sadly how you should put money before love. I recommend you people to watch Salade Fasl, trust me you won't be disappointed . Thanks Homy
