Three Hollywood actresses have stated they are not down with plastic surgery - Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz and Emma Thompson. Good for them, we say!

Did any of you catch that AMPAS has opened up a Production Design Database? It's just got two sample searches right now "Science Fiction" and "Wedding Clothes" and many of the items you still have to make appointments to actually see but what they do have up gives you a taste of their rich history. (It's better to search more generally -- like say by picking a year -- than to search for a specific film). Since I didn't do as much as I intended for the June Wedding theme here at the blog, I thought I'd share a couple of their illustrations for one last walk down an aisle (and to give you a taste of the type of stuff they have.)
The wedding search is more Costume Design than Production Design but those two departments are usually tight. In the picture above you see illustrations of stars Elizabeth Taylor...

The Canadian Press -- Toronto - Lady Gaga won two awards and provided a double shot of her trademark edgy, eccentric stage theatrics at Sunday's MuchMusic Video Awards — but it was a surprise appearance from beloved teen-pop star Justin Bieber that really sent fans into a frenzy.
Bieber wasn't promoted as one of the evening's celebrity guests, but the 17-year-old teen-pop titan from Stratford, Ont., seemingly couldn't resist coming out to support his girlfriend Selena Gomez, the Disney-reared star who hosted the outdoor bash.
The couple may have shared a kiss at the Billboard Music Awards a few weeks ago, but on Sunday they shared the spotlight, inspiring a screaming throng of teens that clogged downtown Toronto streets all day to elevate their shrieking to a deafening crescendo.
"I want to say thank you so much to all my fans, you guys are amazing," Bieber said as he accepted his first award of the evening,...

American audiences first met gorgeous French actress Mélanie Laurent when she burned down the house as Shoshanna in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds."
She now co-stars in Mike Mills' haunting new movie "Beginners." Oliver (Ewan McGregor) is struggling with the loss of his father, Hal (Christopher Plummer), who died from cancer just five years after coming out of the closet. Then Oliver meets Anna (Laurent) at a Halloween party and falls in love with the funny, complicated, insightful woman who moves from hotel room to hotel room. The film is based loosely on Mills' relationship with his own father.
Laurent is also a jazz singer and director; her full-length directorial debut will come out this November in France. Blunt and beautiful, Laurent is just the woman Hollywood needs right now, and she wasn't shy about telling us why she auditioned with a fake dog, or exactly what she thinks of director Lars von Trier.

The modern day Joe Cocker has just arrived into the music scene. We still think that Cocker’s famed tunes, such as “You Are So Beautiful” and “With A Little Help From My Friends,” could be released nowadays and reclaim their #1 positions on the charts. What we mean by modern day is that this artist brings back Cocker’s rugged vocals into a world where repetitive and beat heavy tracks dominate the radio waves. Although his tunes might not have these contemporary elements, we still imagine the tracks of the up and coming artist, Jim Bianco, passing alongside these wavelengths. Bianco’s ability to control his raspy sound unearths a bunch of [...]...

Denise Welch has become the latest celebrity to be eliminated from Dancing On Ice.
The Loose Women star has been consistently lingering at the bottom of the judges leaderboard for the last few weeks, yet tonight, after she had her score doubled and ended up in third place, she landed in the bottom two alongside war hero Johnson Beharry.
Upon hearing the skate-off participants, we knew immediately that Welch would leave, after all her husband did her no favours by ranting at judge Jason Gardiner earlier in the evening. Tim Healy may have been defending his beloved wife, but somehow we doubt that the acid tongued judge cared.
Denise started off the skate off and gave her emotional routine to Heart’s ‘Alone’ a second try. It has actually been one of her better performances in recent weeks, however, she still had difficulty getting in and out of lifts and...

It hardly matters how well or badly Johnson Beharry skates any more, the public love what he stands for and how he behaves and with the public backing of stars like Vanilla Ice, we will be shocked if he doesn’t make the final.
Tonight Beharry attempted his first big lift since he injured his hand in January and we were a bit worried as we watched him struggle through training. However, he was paid a visit from his old pal and former contestant Vanilla Ice and he tried to help him iron out any recurring problems.
Johnson and Jodeyne skated to ‘You Are So Beautiful’ and showed more grace and elegance than we are used to. The lift happened without any great mishap, but it was wobbly and looked dangerous and we don’t think that his pro partner felt very confident in the air.

X Factor contestant Liam Payne has reportedly moved out of the bedroom he used to share with the rest of One Direction.
The 17 year old singer was said to be fed up with the mess created by the other boys and took advantage of all the recent eliminations from the show, to claim a new bedroom of his own. However he didn’t enjoy his solitary space for long, because he was soon followed by bandmate Zayn Malik.
An X Factor source said: “The boys all get on really well but Liam decided he had had enough.
“It’s a lot cleaner and quieter in his new room with Zayn. The pair are a bit more mature than the rest of the boys so they get on well.”

One Direction took on a song, obviously designed to make their teenage fans melt on tonight’s X Factor show.
The gorgeous boys sang the ballad You Are So Beautiful To Me for the rock themed episode and we almost could feel the hysteria rising all around the country, as the cute singers crooned.
Liam Payne opened with his dulcet tones and was followed, one by one, by most of the other members as they all got a little solo segment. There was something to please all the fans in this short performance.
Judges Comments:
Louis Walsh: You’ve proved tonight you’re not just another boyband. You’re a great vocal group and you’ve proved that you can all sing. My only thing about it is…..I don’t think it’s a rock song. I don’t really think it’s in the rules but it was a brilliant song.

She had just danced and sang her booty off for two hours and now she was giving her time to Noelle. And time she gave. All Hell will eventually break loose on True Blood this season, as creator Alan Ball promised a convergence of events and a compelling finale.
I have no doubt that will be true, and I was extremely entertained by "Beautifully Broken," but the episode did feel a bit disconnected.
As anyone familiar with the books (or with the weeks' worth of casting updates on TV Fanatic) knows, season three introduces a slew of new characters to the series. Almost all of them showed up last night, making it a bit difficult to get caught up in the suspense of the storylines when we're challenged to simply keep track of who's who.
At least the characters are promising, though. There's Jesus, who gives Mrs. Reynolds a chance to be hilariously racist and Lafayette a chance to find love. Anything that places this hookah in the spotlight in fine by me, especially if...

Alexandra Burke popped up on tonight’s Dancing On Ice to perform her latest single All Night Long (no relation to the Lionel Richie track of the same name).
We were expecting great things from the former X Factor winner, however she stood on a podium, barely moving throughout the performance, clearly in mortal terror of the slippery ice just inches away.
I’d like to say I liked the song at least, but I don’t. American Idol judge Randy Jackson would have called her singing ‘pitchy’ which would have been an understatement. And the more suspicious thing was that the members of the national press that we follow on Twitter were raving about it. Calling it a classic and her best work yet. Either they’re collectively high on something, or there’s a conspiracy at the highest levels of the mainstream media. You decide…

Rachel Adedeji has defended Simon Cowell's decision to send her home on last weekend's X Factor. Rachel Adedeji has become the fourth act to be voted off The X Factor. Adedeji found herself in the bottom two for the third time after the public vote. She was joined by Lloyd Daniels, and both acts had to perform a song of their choice to win the judges' votes. Adedeji was first to perform, and chose to sing the Oasis track 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out'. Daniels, who was suffering with a sore throat, followed with a rendition of 'You Are So Beautiful'. During his performance his voice cracked, causing him to shake his head and say "Sorry". The judges then had to decide who to save. Dannii Minogue was first to vote, and decided to save her own act, Adedeji, as did Louis Walsh. Cheryl Cole saved her own act, Daniels, leaving Simon Cowell with the final vote. Gather round the googlebox tonight everybody, somebody’s going home and it might be Danyl “The Most Hated Man In Britain” Johnson. David Hasselhoff is rarely on target with any remarks he makes from the judges' table (or, well, anywhere), but his proclamation that last night would be "Hoff the charts"...rang surprisingly true! For over two hours we were treated to everything from fire juggling to break-dancing to "Poker Face" remixing, the large majority of it entertaining and, well, vote-worthy. How about it, guys? By my count, we saw at least eight contending acts -- a dramatic improvement on the last two weeks' ho-hum rotation and a guarantee that tonight's results show will be anything but "duh." To recap: FootworKINGz got things going at a frantic pace with their opening act, a dance number that had Piers calling them the "fastest group [he'd] ever seen" and earning much praise from the other two judges. "He wants a big wedding and I want it small, so we’re still in negotiations." Speaking with People at Animal Fair magazine's 10th Annual Paws for Style fashion show sponsored by Svedka on Monday at M2 nightclub in New York, Chmerkovskiy's bride-to-be explained his demands. "He wants posh, beautiful ... something that’s going to leave memories for the rest of your life," says Smirnoff, who is costarring on Broadway [1] with Chmerkovskiy in a three-week run of Burn The Floor before returning to Dancing with the Stars. Adam Lambert had his usual triumphant showing on American Idol last night, while Danny Gokey and Kris Allen split their decisions, underwhelming with their first songs and redeeming themselves with their second. Danny's "You Are So Beautiful" was nice, but it didn't prove he's capable of any more than what we saw from him on day one. Kris' reworking of Kanye West's "Heartless" may have been a game-changer, however, being good enough to theoretically propel him past Danny (who's never been in the bottom two or three) and into the final. Tonight, Jordin Sparks and Katy Perry sang. Alicia Keys asked for money (a great cause, but more on that later). Ryan Seacrest walked the Top...

"American Idol" Result Show sent Danny Gokey home, making Kris Allen and Adam Lambert as the Final 2. 88 million votes came pouring in during "American Idol" Top 3 performance night but only one million separated the Top 2, meaning that the final may be a close call. America has voted, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen advance to the next round while Danny Gokey has to end the journey third place.
On Tuesday, Gokey sang Terence Trent D'arby's "Dance Little Sister" and was criticized for his awkward dancing and the song choice, which actually was Paula Abdul's pick. And then in the second round the Milwaukee native went acoustic with Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful". Simon Cowell called it "a vocal master class."
Filler of the night was a performance by season 6 winner Jordin Sparks who debuted her new single "Battlefield" accompanied by piano. Katy Perry was also in the house, singing "Waking Up in Vegas" and wearing a cape with "Adam Lambert" written on the back.

If Adam Lambert doesn't win American Idol, it won't be because he's too theatrical. Or because it seems likely that he's gay -- though I'll talk more about that in a moment. I'm convinced a Lambert loss may come simply because the show wants him to win so badly, disgusted fans may react by kicking him off. Tuesday's show was one of the worst examples of Lambert cheerleading I've seen, with every judge predicting he would survive tonight's elimination episode to compete in the finale, and at least one judge already pronouncing him the show's winner. Lambert's such a favorite, he's already scored a cover on Entertainment Weekly and made headlines two weeks ago when he landed in the show's bottom two. Good as he is, Lambert's performances last night were hardly a lock. Danny Gokey's gospelized "You Are So Beautiful" and Kris...

We are only mere hours away from the results show for American Idol and the anticipation is at an all time high. Last night, the final three took the stage and each performed two songs; one was a personal pick while the others were handpicked by the judges. They are did an incredible job, but unfortunately someone will be voted off tonight. The question is, who will it be? Paula Abdul picked Terence Trent D'Arby's "Dance Little Sister" for Danny Gokey and the judges were unimpressed with his somewhat screamy performance. However, when he took the stage to sing his personal song which was Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful" they all poured him with rave reviews. Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi picked One Republic's "Apologize" for Kris Allen and criticized him for being too safe and unoriginal. When Kris Allen picked his own song, he shocked judges,...

All bets are off after the final three performed on last night's American Idol. After being written off, Kris Allen's performances should make tonight's elimination pretty interesting, though let's start with Danny Gokey. Paula was in charge of Danny's judges' choice song, and she went with "Dance Little Sister," which was fine - his voice sounded good but the performance was nothing special. Simon praised his vocals but was already under attack from the female judges, which escalated into sparring with Kara all night long. Danny redeemed himself when he choose "You Are So Beautiful" for his second song. He sounded great, which all the judges agreed on, and Simon even commended him for being in a "vocal master class." Randy and Kara were in charge of choosing Kris Allen's first song, and they went with "Apologize" by One Republic. As a fan of the song, I thoroughly enjoyed the performance,...

It's the screamer versus the quiet soul man. The flashy, trashy L.A. rocker against the mellow, humble small-town crooner. Call it what you like, but next week's "American Idol" finale could be one of the most exciting in the show's history. A "ding-dong," if you will, to quote judge Simon Cowell.
Following a titanic 88 million votes — and with just 1 million separating the top two finalists — Danny Gokey became the odd man out on Wednesday night when he was eliminated from the show's first-ever all-male top three.

"American Idol"'s final three -- Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Danny Gokey -- each performed two songs: one selected by the judges and one of their own choice -- but not before each of them made a hometown journey. Danny kicked off the night with his judges' pick: Terence Trent D'Arby's "Dance Little Sister," selected by Paula Abdul. Randy Jackson gave him a thumbs up, saying, "Lots of energy. Performing like crazy. Dude, that was dope for me." Kara liked the vocals, but not Danny's moves. She said, "I like that Paula picked that song, but the dancing was a little too gyrating for me. You are a great singer, but am I going to remember that performance?" Paula disagreed, pointing out, "I am a choreographer, and I think you did really good. And what is great, you let the magic part of your voice carry out throughout the song.

It’s a tight race to the “American Idol” finale finish line. There’s no Syesha Mercado easy target here in season eight’s top three. Nope, all three contestants have viable fanbases and oodles of talent. And after watching the top three perform judges’ choice/ contestants’ choice numbers, it’s even harder to predict.
My terrible batting average hasn’t stopped me from predicting in the past (I’m 0-3 right now, aren’t I?), so let’s break down the performance show and predict whose “Idol” journey will end tomorrow night.
Check out Jim Cantiello’s video recap of tonight’s ‘Idol’ episode below,

Going Home: Kris Allen
Kris delivered my favorite performance of the show. His acoustic take on Kanye West’s “Heartless” is exactly the kind of memorable, buzzworthy showstopper that has America reaching for its collective TiVo remote. However, his first...

"American Idol" season 8 has reached a critical stage where three remaining contestants, all men, are vying for a slot in the final run. Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen performed on the stage on Tuesday, May 12, with a song which is selected by the judges and a song that they feel comfortable with. Here is the recap.
First on the stage was Danny Gokey with Paula Abdul's choice, Terence Trent D'arby's "Dance Little Sister". Randy Jackson actually liked it but Kara DioGuardi despised the part where he danced with the saxophone solo. She said she would not remember the performance tomorrow. Paula loved the whole thing, the dancing and the singing. Simon Cowell called the dancing "desperate" and the song choice bad. Paula and Simon later on argued and she punched him. Danny defended the song choice, saying "I want to sing that song!".

Tonight’s “American Idol” live-blog is dedicated to Allison Iraheta, my personal Idol. In honor of the recent oustee, I expect all of you to refuse to give me any credit I might deserve in this live-blog. Your comments should be comprised of backhanded compliments, faint praise and “that ones” while you over-praise other bloggers who are lazy and aren’t deserving of their unstoppable success. Deal?
Check out Jim Cantiello’s video recap of the show below!
We now resume with our regularly scheduled live-blog.
And then there were two…with a third wheel.
Yes, in a season that’s felt as endless as “The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons”, the finale is approaching faster than Kara can say “Here’s the thing…”

Let the speculation begin.
And no, we're not talking about who's going to win "American Idol," but rather, is Simon Cowell totally kissing the show goodbye?
For weeks, there have been whispers that the cantankerous "Idol" judge might not be returning for the show's ninth season, and on Tuesday night's (May 12) show, Cowell didn't seem like he was in the mood to stick around, spending most of the night sparring with fellow judges Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson.
The battling began during Kris Allen's first performance of the night, a swooning take on OneRepublic's "Apologize" chosen for him by DioGuardi and Jackson, when DioGuardi took issue with Allen's straightforward interpretation of the song.

PARIS -- Rachid Bouchareb's Days of Glory, Pascale Ferran's Lady Chatterley and Guillaume Canet's Tell No One dominate the nominations for this year's Cesar Awards, France's top film honors, with each film vying for nine awards, organizers said Friday.
Alain Resnais' Coeurs and Xavier Giannoli's When I Was a Singer trail with eight and seven nominations, respectively.
Days of Glory, a harrowing portrayal of North Africans who fought to liberate France during World War II, followed up its foreign-language Oscar nomination with nine Cesar noms including best film, director and original script.
Tell No One, Guillaume Canet's adaptation of Harlan Coben's thriller, also bagged nine nominations, including best film, director and actor (Francois Cluzet).
Lady Chatterley, a critics' favorite that picked up the Louis Delluc prize in December, rounded out the trio with nominations in the best film, director and actress (Marina Hands) categories.
Philippe Lioret's adolescent drama Don't Worry, I'm Fine, also will compete in the best film category, nabbing a total of five nominations including best director and female newcomer (Melanie Laurent).
Cecile de France, who took last year's supporting actress Cesar, will compete against herself in the best actress category for her roles in When I Was a Singer and Avenue Montaigne. Catherine Frot (The Page Turner), Charlotte Gainsbourg (I Do) and Marina Hands (Lady Chatterley) also will vie for the prize.
Nominees in the best actor category include Michel Blanc, who plays a farmer in French boxoffice hit You're So Beautiful; Alain Chabat, for his hilarious portrayal of a reluctant lover in I Do; Gerard Depardieu, for his role as a worn-out ballroom singer in When I Was a Singer; Jean Dujardin, who plays the French reincarnation of James Bond in OSS 117; and Francois Cluzet, a man searching for his missing wife in Tell No One.
Singer, Glory and Beautiful will vie for best original screenplay alongside Avenue Montaigne and Jean-Philippe while No One, Chatterley, OSS 117 and Don't Worry will compete with Alain Resnais' ensemble hit Private Fears in Public Places in the best adaptation category.
Christine Citti (Singer), Mylene Demongeot (French California) and Bernadette Lafont (I Do) will compete for the best supporting actress prize with French singer Dani (Avenue Montaigne) and this year's Cesars ceremony host, Valerie Lemercier (Montaigne).
The nominees for best supporting actor are Danny Boon (The Valet), Francois Cluzet (Four Stars), Andre Dussollier (No One), Guy Marchand (Inside Paris) and Kad Merad (Don't Worry).
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Babel, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' Little Miss Sunshine, Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain, Stephen Frears' The Queen and Pedro Almodovar's Volver will compete for best foreign-language film.

PARIS -- The Printemps du Cinema, France's annual spring promotion which lures audiences to the movies with cut-price tickets, kicked off Sunday with 1.1 million admissions, a 30% increase over last year's first-day figure, organizers said Monday. The National Federation of French Cinemas (FNCF), which has organized the three-day promotion since 2000, attributed Sunday's turnout to the diversity of new Hollywood and French releases, including The Pink Panther, Underworld: Evolution, French comedies Du jour au lendemain (One Fine Day) and Essaye-moi (Try Me) and black-and-white animation film Renaissance. The holdover strength of earlier releases such as Prime, Fauteuils d'orchestre (Orchestra Seats) and L'Ivresse du pouvoir (Comedy of Power) also contributed to film admissions on the first day. The strong showing Sunday was also helped by French hit comedy Les Bronzes 3 - amis pour la vie (Friends Forever) which crossed 10.1 million admissions this weekend, and another French comedy, Je vous trouve tres beau (You Are So Beautiful), which crossed the 3 million mark, the FNCF added.

PARIS -- French cinema group Gaumont posted full-year 2005 results Tuesday, unveiling an 18% hike in revenue from the previous year to 100.2 million ($119.2 million) along with a 21.7% drop in net profit to 7.2 million ($8.5 million). The group attributed the mixed results to the hit-or-miss nature of its film slate. The strong theatrical performances of Palais Royale!, a comedy inspired by Europe's royals (2.7 million admissions), and Je vous trouve tres beau (You Are So Beautiful), about a French farmer who seeks a Romanian girl to replace his dead wife (2.3 million entries since January), were weighed down by a pair of expensive flops -- Eric Lartigau's Un ticket pour l'espace (A Ticket to Outer Space) and Eric Valli's La Piste (The Trail), the company said. Brisk video sales of Alain Berberian's The Corsica File, starring Jean Reno and Christian Clavier, and 36 Quai des Orfevres, starring Daniel Auteuil and Gerard Depardieu, helped profits, while catalog sales grew 31.7% to 47.7 million ($56.7 million).
