Logan Lerman has been cast in “We Were the Lucky Ones,” Hulu’s upcoming limited series based on Georgia Hunter’s 2017 novel of the same name.
Inspired by a true story, the series follows a Polish Jewish family that is separated by World War II and determined to survive and reunite. Lerman plays Addy, the middle child, who is 25 years old at the start of the war. He is an adventurer who lives in Paris as an engineer while also enjoying budding success as a music composer, and has an ability to find common ground with dissimilar people and a talent to fix anything. Addy’s character is inspired by Hunter’s grandfather, who was a young man in the late 1930s.
Lerman is best known for leading the 2010 and 2013 “Percy Jackson” films as well as 2012’s “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” with additional credits including “The Butterfly Effect,...

CNN aired an interview with survivors of the Annapolis newsroom shooting on “Anderson Cooper 360” Thursday evening, without censoring the f-word.
Anderson Cooper warned viewers that the emotional taped interview with Capital Gazette staff writers Phil Davis and Selene San Felice “contained strong language.”
The writers described the way the attack played out, with San Felice explaining how she witnessed her colleague John McNamara get shot. Cooper asked her if she remembered hearing anything and she said the only thing she remembered hearing besides the gunshots was McNamara saying, “What the f—.”
San Felice also used the f-word when describing her response to President Donald Trump’s tweet that his thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families: “Thanks for your prayers, but I couldn’t give a f— about them if there’s nothing else,” she said.

Long before she was a Best Actress Oscar winner, Brie Larson had a different title: wannabe pop starlet. Joining the ranks of early 2000s teen queens Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff, Larson nabbed a record deal, releasing tracks like "She Said" in 2005 at only 16. In the music video for "She Said," her highest-charting single from first album Finally Out Of P.E., Larson rocked out on a green guitar while donning the fashions of the day: a zebra-print shirt and frayed miniskirt. Larson even hit the road, joining Teen People's 2005 Rock in Shop mall tour with the likes of Jesse McCartney.

Even famous faces Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal couldn't help "Won't Back Down," which set a record over the weekend for worst film opening ever.
"Won't Back Down" took in a rough $2.6 million its opening weekend, according to Box Office Mojo, setting the record for worst opening of a film that released in over 2,500 theaters. The flick beat Rainn Wilson's "The Rocker," Drew Barrymore's 2007 romantic drama "Lucky You," Luke Wilson's family comedy "Hoot" and Jennifer Aniston's remake of "Rumor Has It" for the dubious honor.
"The Rocker" had been in the top spot since 2008.
"'Won't Back Down' wore the dunce cap last weekend, mostly because its marketing was almost non-existent," Jeff Bock, box office analyst for Exhibitor Relations told Yahoo! Movies.
The film also stars Oscar-winner Holly Hunter and focuses on two mothers fighting to transform an inner city school suffocating under bureaucratic issues.

While there are still not enough good roles for women out there, particularly in mainstream Hollywood, that hasn't stopped a batch of young female stars from exploding from out of nowhere in recent years. Head-turning performances have helped launch faces like Carey Mulligan, Mia Wasikowska, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Felicity Jones and many others into the stratosphere, and the success last weekend of "The Hunger Games" has hopefully put to rest the fallacy that huge audiences won't turn up to big movies carried by a woman.
With that in mind, and hot on the heels of our ten picks for actors on the rise yesterday, we've chosen ten actresses who, while yet to be household names, have wowed audiences and casting directors in recent years, and look like strong contenders to headline the big movies of the future. Check our picks our below, and weigh in with your own tips in the comment section.

March 2 is Dr. Seuss' birthday (he would have been 104) and also, not by coincidence, the release of "The Lorax" in theaters. "The Lorax," which was published in 1971, is Seuss' environmental fable that inspires kids to think about nature (the lovely Truffula trees) versus material goods (those trendy but unnecessary Thneeds), and the movie does a good job of translating that theme into a charming animated movie kids will love. But then the studio's marketing geniuses have to muck up the story's message by making the Lorax shill everything from SUVs to Ihop specials. Maybe we've all become desensitized to the consumerist nature of family films (I admit I had so many Happy Meal toys in my house I finally called a moratorium on McDonald's when I nearly broke an ankle tripping over a plastic Chipmunk), but there's something particularly off-putting about the Lorax shilling for so many products --...

Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, Dream House This past weekend (Sept. 30-Oct. 2), Dolphin Tale grossed slightly less than estimated according to North American box-office actuals found at Box Office Mojo. Directed by Charles Martin Smith, and featuring Harry Connick Jr, Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble, Austin Stowell, and Morgan Freeman, Dolphin Tale pulled in $13.91 million, or about $300,000 less than originally estimated. At no. 2, Bennett Miller's Moneyball collected $12.03 million, or about $500,000 less than estimated. Brad Pitt stars, along with Jonah Hill, Robin Wright, and Chris Pratt. At no. 3, The Lion King 3D added $10.61m, also below estimates but more than enough for it to remain well ahead of both Mike Nichols' The Graduate and Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park on Box Office Mojo's inflation-adjusted chart of all-time box-office champs. Originally released in 1994, The Lion King features songs by Elton John and Tim Rice, and the voices of Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones,...

Dream House's average was a highly disappointing $3,085 per theater. That's Daniel Craig's second box-office flop this year, following the highly disappointing performance of Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens, Craig's highly expensive summer pairing with Harrison Ford. According to Variety, the British star is now circling "The Perks of Being a Wallflower". She will possibly team up with Logan Lerman as he is reportedly also in talks to take a lead role in this upcoming drama, but the characters that might be tackled by the two are not yet known.

Logan Lerman, star of the upcoming "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," may be up for the role of our favorite webslinger.
The 18-year-old actor has been in talks with Sony to play Peter Parker in the "Spider-Man" reboot, reports "Access Hollywood."
"There have been a few discussions, it's definitely something I'm looking into," Lerman told Billy Bush on Thursday, Feb. 4.
"It's one of my favorite characters ever and I'm a huge fan of the series," he added. "I'd love to have more conversations about it. I'm definitely very interested in it."
For those who wanted a relative unknown in the lead, Lerman might fit the bill, but perhaps not for long. He stars as the titular "Percy Jackson" (in theaters Friday, Feb. 12), a modern-day teenager who discovers he's the demigod son of Poseidon (Kevin McKidd), Greek god of the sea and earthquakes. (Note to self: Should keep an eye on young actor Logan Lerman!) I've watched Logan acting alongside Christian Bale in 3:10 to Yuma and man, he can act! But even before that notable role, I remember him as Bobby McCallister in Jack and Bobby - he was simply awesome! I think this guy knows how to make the transition from television to the big screen.
More on Logan: Logan Lerman decided that he wanted to be an actor at the age of two. He appeared in two commercials, and made his film debut in 2000's The Patriot. Lerman's role in the 2003 made-for-television film, A Painted House, won him a Young Artist Award for "Best Performance by a Leading Young Actor" in a television production.
Continuing his feature film work, Lerman appeared in Hoot, The Number 23, and 3:10 to Yuma. Later this year, Lerman will appear in the dystopian science-fiction film Gamer.

Attached to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in theatres this week is the teaser trailer for a brand new fantasy film franchise called Percy Jackson & The Olympians. I hadn't even heard of this young adult series until now, but the premise sounds pretty cool even if the teaser trailer doesn't show much worth getting excited about (yet). Written by Rick Riordan, the Percy Jackson books are about a 12-year-old boy who discovers that he is the son of Poseidon, and that the gods of Greek mythology still exist today. The first book is called The Lightning Thief and the movie is directed by Chris Columbus, who of course did the first two Harry Potter flicks. Clearly they're hoping this series will be able to carry on in place of the Harry Potter franchise once it wraps up. Thus far there are five main books in the series plus two spin-off titles,...

Tanner Hall, a never-made UPN pilot, is finding new life as an indie feature.

Also in the cast are Tricia Mara (Urban Legends: Bloody Mary), Brie Larson (Hoot), Georgia King (Wild Child), Amy Ferguson (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story) and Shawn Pyfrom (Desperate Housewives).
The script, written by von Furstenberg and Gregorini, is a coming-of-age story set in a boarding school. Four teenage girls navigate adolescence while the adults in their world -- the parents and teacher -- struggle with their own midlife hurdles.
Von Furstenberg is the daughter of fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, and Gregorini is the daughter of Barbara Bach and the step-daughter of Ringo Starr. The two met while attending Brown University, became fast friends and cooked up Tanner Hall as a TV series based on their experiences attending boarding schools.
While such tentpole summer films as Superman Returns and Cars have lined up huge, even record-setting promotional programs with traditional tie-in partners like McDonald's, Burger King, Kellogg's and Pepsi Co., they also are relying on many unconventional brands and Hollywood newcomers to target the increasingly elusive moviegoer. Even summer films with more limited promotional programs, such as Sony's The Da Vinci Code, Taladega Nights and Monster House; Warner Bros. Pictures' Poseidon and The Ant Bully; and New Line Cinema's Hoot are teaming with unique brand partners in an effort to reach niche markets. "The partnerships that are coming out now are very unique," said Iris Mohr, associate professor of marketing at St. Johns University in Queens, N.Y., and an entertainment marketing consultant. "The studios are really reaching for completely new markets and are beginning to move away from traditional partnerships like fast food and soft drinks. There is a much greater effort to target specific markets with nontraditional partnerships and to be innovative in trying new things," she said.
