Oh Great. I've stabbed an angel. Now I'm really never getting into heaven

Warning: Spoilers
Oh Great. I've stabbed an angel. Now I'm really never getting into heaven - An episode that carries a pretty serious storyline, child molesting. I think using telekinesis as a side effect of being molested by your own father was good, the only thing that brought down the episode for me was the casting of Daisy McCrackin who plays 'Bethany', I think her acting was too uneven, I didn't feel much of a chemistry between the actress and David Boreanaz either. But other than that, It was nice that 'Lilah' got her own storyline which made her come out of 'Lindsey's shadow for once. 'Bethany' squashing those two men with a huge trash can was a hoot and of course when she threw her father out of the window but didn't kill him. 'Darla' didn't get as many scenes as in the previous episode but the few ones she got were memorable enough. Something else I really enjoyed were the 'Wesley' and 'Cordy' interactions, it's always funny when they insult each other. I think that the episode would have worked better by casting someone else as 'Bethany', but it still worked in it's own way. LILAH: Sooner or later your powers are gonna get out of control, and you're gonna need a friend. BETHANY: My friends don't hire men to rape or kidnap me, at least not my close ones anyway. Carrie get's even
Joxerlives24 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
UNTOUCHED

The Good; Some lovely stuff from Lilah and some nice humour with Gunn.

The Bad; I think the whole abused child bit is a little overdone, if you want to see that go so Michelle Tractenberg's excellent film 'Mysterious Skin' (but be warned, it's hard to watch)

Best line: Angel; "Do you know what it's like to get a re-bar through your torso?" Cordy; "Actually yes I do. Benefits of a Sunnydale education" (Lover's Walk)

Jeez, how did they get away with that? The whole incest storyline is super-icky, father's once more getting a rough ride in the Buffyverse. Plus Bethany squishing the thugs with the dumpster but as Gunn says "Mr rapist-for-hire? See me crying?"

Apocalypses: 4

Angel Clichés Damsel in distress; 17, yep and how

Inverting the Hollywood cliché; Bethany actually comes on to Angel which is unusual to see. Wes confesses he has no knowledge whatsoever about telekenisis. Cordy warns Bethany about Angel, hints of jealousy.

In disguise; yep as a detective, must have been taking hints from Kate so 5

DB get's his shirt off; yep, amazing how he always get's wounded in the chest but Cordy never does? 10

Cordy's tattoo;3

Cheap Angel; Cordy says she likes her men "Less broody, more spendy" 5

Fang Gang in bondage: Cordy: 5 Angel: 8 Wes: 2

Fang gang knocked out: Angel and Cordy Cordy: 10 Angel: 12 Wes: 5 Doyle; 1

Kills: none this ep for anyone although I love the way Cordy fights off the thugs with her lattes. Cordy: 5 vamps, 1 demons Angel; 17 vamps, 18 and 1/2 demons, 3 humans Doyle; 1 vamp Wes; 1/2 a demon Kate; 3 vamps Faith; 16 vamps, 6 demons, 3 humans. Gunn; 5 vamps.

Fang Gang go evil: Cordy: 2 Angel: 2

Alternate Fang Gang: Cordy: 2 Angel: 6

Characters killed: 25

Recurring characters killed; 4;

Total number of Angel Investigations: Gunn now being paid so add him in 4, Angel, Cordy, Wes and Gunn

Angel Investigations shot: Angel: 8,

Packing heat; Wes; 2 Doyle; 1 Angel; 1

Notches on Fang Gang bedpost: Cordy: 2 ?+Wilson/Hacksaw Beast Angel: 1;Buffy

Kinky dinky: Bethany comments that Angel's Darla dream must make him 'Pretty happy' to judge by his bed covers. Indeed they resemble the x-rated cover of a period romance novel, bodice-ripping by the fireside. Bethany says guy's love the whole 'innocent and fragile' thing. Cordy comments that she came in the top 10% of her class and Wes wonders was that class 'Advanced bosoms?" (I think she gets more a C in that area?

Captain Subtext; Lilah's relationship with Bethany smacks mightily of lesbianism just in the same way as her picking up Faith at the club did. When Gunn boasts about his new axe and hopes he might 'Get the chance to stick it in something" Cordy comments "Men, all alike!"

Know the face, different character; 2

Parking garages; 4,

Buffy characters on Angel; 11 Wetherby, Collins and Smith. Angel, Cordy, Oz, Spike, Buffy, Wes, Faith, Darla

What the fanficcers thought; read a very good one once where Buffy confronts Hank about abusing her as a child. He confesses to being abused himself, she forgives him then he turns himself in, REAL tearjerker called ' The Monsters of Childhood'

Incest fetish-fic of course HUGELY popular but almost invariably Buffy/Dawn/Joyce (Charmed sisters, Gilmore Girls etc) as consenting adults, 'Don't go' probably the most acceptable story of a very dodgy genre.

Questions and observations; Hugely dark, you wonder if this is what Joss and co intended the series to originally be like in terms of both 'Damsel in distress of the week' and in the dark nature of the subject matter (Lonely Heart for instance was originally called Corrupt and had Kate not only posing undercover as a prostitute but had gotten too far into her role, actually working as one and having sex with her clients. At that point the studio stepped in. Of course the studio seems to have no such problem with Dollhouse which is basically the ultimate fantasy escort agency).

Marks out of 10; 7/10. Good ep, surprisingly funny in places and all about redemption, I for one am glad Bethany didn't kill her father. Also more and more depth added to Lilah and that's always a good thing.

Angel helps a girl with telekinetic powers
katierose29521 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This is not my favorite episode. It doesn't contribute a lot to the over all story line or have any real impact on the characters. It does have some fun parts to it, but if you're watching the season on DVD, you can probably skip "Untouched" and not miss much.

"Untouched" revolves around a young woman named Bethany. She's able to move things with her mind and she's in trouble. She has problems controlling her talent and she's being recruited by Lila. Wolfram and Hart think that Bethany can become an assassin. When Bethany is attacked in an alley way, Angel gets involved. Bethany crushes her attackers with a dumpster and she's scared that she will hurt someone else. She ends up at the Hyperion looking for help. It turns out that her powers developed because her father abused her. Angel is still being haunted by dreams about Darla. Bethany tries to seduce Angel, but he turns her down. He explains that she safe at the hotel and that she must try to control her powers. Wolfram and Hart are desperate to get Bethany back. They try kidnapping her and, when that doesn't work, then send her father to the hotel. Bethany freaks out. Everything starts moving and rattling and she nearly kills her father. At the last minute, she finally takes control of her powers and lets him live. Bethany leaves LA, finally able to embrace her gift.

There are some good parts to this episode. The scenes and conversations between Cordy, Wes, Angel and Gunn are really fun. Cordy might work for Angel, but she has no trouble telling him what to do. She insists that Angel should be paying Gunn. Angel, unable to stand up to Cordelia's bossiness, finally offers Gunn a paycheck. "Cool," says Gunn. And I really enjoy Angel and Gunn searching that apartment. The guy who attacked Bethany is still alive and on the critical list at the hospital. Angel can't go into the house, so he sort of leans against the "force field" blocking the doorway. Suddenly Angel goes tumbling into the apartment and they realize that the guy must've died. "I guess he's off the critical list." Angel mused. Gunn snorts, "A rapist for hire? You see me crying?" It just cracks me up. Also, I love Angel pretending to be a cop at the crime scene. He's hilarious, stealing coffee and prying answers from the patrolmen. And I like Wes sharing his knowledge about telekinesis "Ah, yes. The power of moving things with one's mind... Actually, that's all I've got. I'm better with demons, really." Plus, his plan to test Bethany is great. He deliberately brings up her father and Bethany sends him flying. Wes and Spike are the two "people" in the Buffyverse whose plans usually have direct, insightful, suicide mission qualities about them... And their plans are the ones that usually work. Finally, I really like Lila, so it's cool to see her out of the Wolfram and Hart offices and folding laundry.

On the down side, why is Lila trying to recruit Bethany? Lila's a lawyer. She's not in charge of hiring talent for Wolfram and Hart, is she? Also, am I really suppose to care that Bethany squashed those attempted rapists? Cordy gives her a lecture about controlling her powers, but I say good job Bethany.

My favorite part of the episode: Cordy and Angel. He threatens to fire her for nagging him. Cordy reminds him that he needs her, "I'm vision girl, remember?" Then she sticks her tongue out at him and Angel sort of smiles. It's just a really cute scene.

Shut up. Just shut up! One more excuse from you and I am going to bury you alive, next to my house so I can hear you screaming.

Warning: Spoilers
Untouched is about a runaway with telekinetic powers, who Wolfram and Hart are trying to get their hands on.

Not a big fan of the episode, as Bethany's self-absorbed with anger and whimpering. She never tried to use her power before, now she can. Didn't need Angel for that, all he did was ask her to try. Anyway, everything that doesn't involve her's excellent. For instance, Angel working the crime scene or Wes and Cordy name calling or Cordy telling Angel he can't fire her.
