Great crew makes this a treat to watch.

Yes, I am a self confessed Da Vinci's inquest fan, and also of everything I've ever seen that Haddock has done but there are many reasons for my fondness for his work; Haddock is a writer's writer but the whole team in the series was superb. Large credit for the success is due to the cinematography by David Frazee which visually sets the mood.

Frazees' work a number of fine series including Intelligence, Da Vincie's City Hall and The Life have all been stellar. From the opening scenes in "Seven tentacles" there is an 'atmosphere' that oozes from the frames; I almost feel the dampness, the rain and the cold and the grey light emphasizes the bleak weather and subject matter. I love the segues from scene to scene, and the unusual but not bizarre camera placement really works, right down to the jumble of action in a darkened car between Brian and Sue.

Other key players in all the artistry are the great Schaun Tozer whose music scoring is always just right, blending with and enhancing the 'action'. The sound department deserves huge praise for their work; the voices are always clear, the ambient noises are never intrusive but are just the right level to add to the action and never overpower it. With a slight hearing loss I really notice and appreciate the wonderful balance and clarity. Of course the actors diction is a huge factor, and the Canadians really have the training aided by fairly neutral accents.

Lastly the editing by Jane Morrison seems flawless, there never seems to wasted sequences nor too little. The flow always seems to make sense for me even when they cut back and forth from sub plot to sub plot.

Of course if these are not enough good reasons to watch reruns of the show, you can always watch just for the great acting.
