I Love Clayton!!
CherCee23 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have always liked Clayton Farlow (Howard Keel), especially since the first time he locked horns with J. R. Ewing (Larry Hagman). But in this episode (Charlie), Lucy Ewing Cooper (Charlene Tilton) comes home in the morning very upset after finding out that her latest boyfriend Eddie Cronin (Fredric Lehne) found out that her maiden name was Ewing and was trying to get to the Ewing fortune. Clayton is outside, and gently tells her that her grandmother, Miss Ellie Southworth Ewing Farlow (Donna Reed) is worried about her, since they hardly talk any more (the little that Lucy is around lately). Lucy is very rude with him, and Clayton then firmly tells her that he might not be her grandfather (he's her step-grandfather), but he is her elder and she will talk to him with respect. She apologizes to him since she realizes that he does mean well, and she shouldn't have been rude to him. I love that Clayton is a good guy, yet he doesn't take any cr*p from anybody! It is sad that Miss Ellie hears when Lucy says everything has changed at South Fork and she almost feels like she's a stranger, and Clayton replies that he is still feeling like an outsider. Clayton tells Lucy that he'd like to help her if he can. Lucy tells Clayton that she may talk with him, but she's not ready to yet.
