The story is set at a racetrack. Just before hitting the track, one driver tells his fellow driver that he thinks their boss is a crook...and he's planning on switching teams because of it. Only moments later, there's an accident...and the disgruntled driver is killed. While it looks like an accident, it wasn't....and soon the FBI is involved because the racing outfit is a cover for a stolen car parts ring that crosses state boundaries. Now agent Colby is posing as a driver in an attempt to gather information as Erskine poses as an owner of a rival outfit looking to recruit new drivers.
The story began very poorly with the crash scene. Up until the crash, the track is empty aside from the lone car. But when there's a crash, they obviously recycled some old footage...and suddenly the car is a bit different AND there are other cars all over the track. Sloppy...very sloppy.
The casting for this one is interesting, as one of the baddies (the nicer of the two baddies) is played by Tom Bosley--the man made famous for starring as Mr. Cunningham on "Happy Days". Seeing him tied up with evil is an interesting change of pace for the actor.
So is it any good? Well, apart from the opening scene, yes. However, another minor problem was having agent Colby suddenly knowing how to drive a race car...that was a tad silly...especially since they went to that well a few times already with Colby having all sorts of convenient skills in other episodes! Still, it's enjoyable and worth seeing.
