Brotherly Love (#3.8)

Warning: Spoilers
Stan comes over with his brother who is a doctor. Blanche throws herself at him and gets him to take her out on a date, but he doesn't seem to enjoy it and takes Dorothy instead. After spending a night together they go out and Stan tells Dorothy he thinks his brother will ask her to marry him, only it turns out he just wants to get a babysitter for some woman he wants to go on vacation with.

Wow, Stan's brother is dumb! He should know better how to get a babysitter instead of how he did. And why take a hot woman on vacation when impotent? Great how Dorothy got his secret out in the open on stage.

Liked the scene between Dorothy and Blanche having a fight. Only too bad it wasn't really a guy choosing Dorothy over her.

Dorothy gets one over on Blanche.

Stan arrives with his brother Ted for a visit, Blanche is quick to jump on him and get a date, but his eyes are elsewhere. Meanwhile, Rose is having trouble sleeping, Sophia finds a solution.

It's a quality episode, this has some very, very funny moments, it's actually really nice to see Dorothy have a bit of luck romantically, especially at Blanche's expense, although the confrontation scene is hilarious. Best moment of all, the announcements, I cried laughing.

That joke about Gary Hart was funny, if you don't know who he is, a quick Google search will explain, funny gag.

Sophia and the saucepan, funniest sequence for some time, she really did get some of the best one liners.

Another example of 1980's comedy, for my money it's the best era for sitcoms, this is a quality watch.

8/10.

It's nice to see Dorothy have some romance at Blanche's expense.

Warning: Spoilers
It's a one-off for sitcom veteran MacLean Stevenson as Stanley's younger brother who pays a visit and makes Blanche and Stan jealous as he shows a lack of interest in her and finds more in common with Dorothy. But there's a motive which leads to Dorothy getting revenge in a way that wasn't well set up and falls flat just as Dorothy does when she tests Sophia's Sicilian sleeping potion made for Rose. The only truly memorable moment comes with Dorothy's military commercial spoof that takes a whack at Blanche's sex life. Stevenson's character is never mentioned again, even though Stanley and Dorothy have a dozen or more episodes including an unsuccessful attempt at remarrying.
