"Thelma's Scholarship" opens with JJ rejoicing in Thelma's hour long conversation in the vice principal's office, only to learn that she has a chance for a scholarship to attend Michigan's prestigious Alliston School for Girls. The joy is short lived when Theta Gamma Sorority's Cindy Bradford (Randi Kallan) drops by to visit the Evans family. Since they already have a 'token' Jap they're now planning on Thelma supplying the CQ (James: "Coon Quota!"). It's enough for Thelma to turn down Alliston, choosing to find the right college where she'll be accepted for something more than the color of her skin. This results in more frustration for JJ, who still won't get his own bedroom!
