Not a Drag!
HilaryElizabeth923 April 2009
This was awesome. Totally loved it from beginning to end. This one has J&J separated by the almighty business trip, so while Jonathan's away, Jennifer goes to a women's only spa (of the 80's) for a pick me up. For reasons unclear, she checks in under her maiden name of Edwards. It's the upmteenth time this season that they've made a big to-do about Jennifer's maiden name being Edwards. At least the third time, with no mentiones in the past seasons that I've seen so far (tho I missed most of the 1st). Not sure why. In any event, things get dicey when Jennifer stumbles onto the owner's plot to bilk wealthy widows out of their millions for one lump sum price of getting dead first. Guest Carole Cook is wonderful as the mouthy, extroverted, diet-cheating fun & funny spa client that Jennifer befriends. But the highlight -- HIGHLIGHT -- of this one is when Jonathan shows up to the spa in drag. Oh. My. God. I was on the floor laughing. He was so funny I was crying. RJ totally rocked his scenes in not only his dress, but in the next scenes pink tights, very tight shorts that hid nothing (not sure where he, ahem, tucked it, but it was a good job), and his pink sweatshirt. And makeup. And wig. Holy moly!! There's one point where Jennifer hugs him, and he rolls his eyes as the camera pans away, and the whole thing is just fantastic. Also interesting is the mention, YET AGAIN, of someone soemwhere making a donation to a wildlife preserve. The only thing I was so-so on was the Harts chasing the bad guy in a fire truck. I'm sorry, but that's stealing a fire engine! Writers, come on! Other than that, I'm telling you, this is a great episode, and Jonathan alone all by himself as the Countest von Hartiwhatever in the wig and makeup and tights and shorts and leg warmers and most hysterical accent fake European Lady Accent EVER is a sight not to miss if this episode comes to a rerun near you!

Answering the question Why was Jennifer at a spa...
terrihofmann28 December 2015
You must have missed the very beginning of the show. J&J are at the airport having a long goodbye as Johnathan heads to NY for a meeting. Jennifer reminds Max that she is registered as Jennifer Edwards because she is doing an article on the fitness center so she goes 'undercover' as Jennifer Edwards. She is asking a lot of questions and the employees get suspicious and decide to listen in on conversations in her room. They figure out who she is by calling her emergency contact number in her file and Max answers the phone "Hart Residence". Further in the pilot episode, Johnathan picks up a book authored by Jennifer Edwards and reads a dedication from his wife on the inside cover. Her maiden name and profession is clarified and used many times through the series.

One Hart too many

Jennifer finds herself in over her head at the Grey Gables Health Farm when the doctor in charge is killing widows and replacing them with lookalikes in order to defraud them.

I absolutely enjoy this episode. Seen it many times - it's located in one area, on a health farm and no men are allowed so Jennifer is alone, and soon ends up investigating when Carole Cook's character - she cheats on her diet in secret and has a mole on her foot - is replaced by a double who doesn't have a mole on her foot and isn't cheating on her diet. The link to this disappearance is in that area where all guests are forbidden to go. Will that stop Jennifer to have a look see? No! It's a typical Hart to Hart plot with a zany idea, humour and fun snooping. The best bit is Jonathan visiting the health farm in drag as the countess. Great episode.

Silly Season with the Harts
aramis-112-8048801 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Jennifer checks into a spa right out of science fiction. The ladies disappear to be replaced in real life by doubles. That much is in the product description so it's not a spoiler. In "The Wild Wild West" doubles of world leaders were made and the real people were kidnapped. That was to take over the world. Why are these people doing it? It must cost a pretty penny.

Wagner has little to do until the end. Thankfully, neither does Max.

Then, for a high speed chase, Jonathan swipes a fire truck. I suppose the only reason these nut cases aren't in prison is their money.

And Robert Wagner in drag is unwatchable. A stupid episode.
