Introducing Officer Wilson...1 and 2.
planktonrules17 March 2014
This episode picks up immediately after the late one--with McGarrett STILL pressuring Carew (William Smith) to join Five-O. In a coincidence you only see on TV, a new member of the team, Kevin Wilson, is killed during an armed hold up--and his wife, an HPD Officer, witnessed this killing and tried to stop the gunmen. This is the coincidence I mentioned because Carew's wife and son had been murdered--now he tries to help Lori Wilson (Sharon Farrell) through her grief. But, like Carew, she doesn't want to sit back and wait--she's going to get the baddies! When McGarrett hears about this, he also tells her to stay out of the case. But, being a hot-heated widow, she's not about to do nothing.

This is a decent episode of the series, though as with Carew, you'd wonder why McGarrett would offer jobs to BOTH these cops by the end of the show. After all, they have the lone wolf mentality and haven't shown a lot in the way of teamwork. Worth seeing but not much more.

Introducing: a dumb blonde ditz!
koohii31 July 2023
We start with the introduction of two characters grocery shopping, who happen upon a robbery in progress. One is a cop about to join 5-0, and the other is his wife, who is supposedly a police officer too. During the episode, she displays a rampant lack of understanding of basic police procedures, even for the time. She disregards orders and disregards the law. She is, in short, absolutely not someone who should have a badge at all, much less someone who should be part of an elite police force.

Again, this feels like a soft pilot for a new show rather than part of the Hawaii Five-0 we've been watching for 11 years. Scenes are written to be DRAMATIC, rather than intelligent, or rational. Sadly, from watching the next episode, I can say that her utter lack of intelligence is an integral part of her character, not just bad writing for this episode. A well-written female character would have been welcome. This one isn't.
