Blue on Blue: Part 1
Prismark1010 July 2023
After the long term success of Heartbeat. Nick Berry was lured back to the BBC with the promise to make shows with his own production company.

Harbour Lights tried to mimic Heartbeat with limited success.

For In Deep, Berry teamed up with Stephen Tompkinson for something more grittier. Life as deep undercover cops.

Liam Ketman (Nick Berry) is a family man but his double life is causing pressure in his personal life. Garth O Hanlon (Stephen Tompkinson) does not have a close family but has to deal with the sharp end of undercover work.

In the first episode of this two parter. Garth poses as a security consultant to get more information on a vice ring operating under the guise of a massage parlour.

He is looking to track down a woman called Eva Richardson who is behind this massage parlour. Only to be embroiled with bent coppers in the drug squad after one of Eva's girls is found dead of a suspected overdose, but she was really murdered.

Liam is 'busted' and posted to that squad which is operated by an old friend.

Only both men discover that the corruption in the drug squad run deep.

There is nothing much earth shattering here apart from most of the cast seemed to have been in Holby City/Casualty at some point. The writing was a bit topsy turvy. Berry and Tompkinson had good chemistry.
