The talents of Chief Ironside and his team are put to work on a break-in. But the break-in was at a synagogue where David Opatoshu is the rabbi. He and Raymond Burr have history, Opatoshu happened to be on the scene when the Chief was going through his greatest crisis, so Ironside commandeers the case for his squad.
The break-in was in a racially mixed neighborhood, but gang leader Hilly Hicks actually helps with the investigation as does Reverend Hal Frederick.
As it turns out a pair of really dumb crooks, Greg Mullavey and Shelley Novack are the ones who did the deed. No anti-Semitism involved, the synagogue looked like it was well kept up and might contain something valuable. Seeing these two clowns trying to fence a Torah was really something else.
