The Road to Bannu
Prismark1012 August 2023
It is a long road to Bannu and it is a busy train station. The entertainment troops are on a roadshow. It will be long hot uncomfortable journey and then they will need to travel by jeep.

To an area of a country where some local tribesmen killed some British soldiers fifty years ago.

Sergeant-Major Williams has made his voice sore by constantly shouting 'Shut-up' at the chaotic train station. Later the jeep breaks down at the area of the country where the local warlords operate. They capture Gunner Lofty Sugden.

Only to find out the the head of the tribe wants a sit down meeting with Colonel Reynolds. This is when the troops discover that the tribesmen are big fans of Bing Crosby.

They demand to see Bing and Solly obliges with Gloria as Dorothy Lamour.

A farcical ending that is rather funny. I also liked how the busy railway station scene was recreated. Rangi Ram has invited his mother in law so he can throw her off the train.

Once again Sergeant-Major Williams crosses swords with Indian bureaucracy who are not putting up with any of his barking.
