Good episode with two beautiful guest stars
shakspryn24 June 2017
One of the enjoyments of watching 1960's TV shows is that you often get to see some of the many strikingly beautiful women who graced these programs. In this episode, we get to see two very attractive actresses, Nancy Kovack and Madlyn Rhue. Both get a nice amount of screen time and some good scenes with Robert Wagner.

This is probably the kind of episode many of us have in mind when we think about this series: Al, on an interesting and difficult mission, encountering beautiful women and flirting with and romancing them. This is a lighthearted episode with quite a bit of humor. I will say, I wish the prints used for the dvds were better. I've watched a number of these episodes, and the print quality is only about B or B-. The colors often look faded and the picture is a little soft. Some DVD sets of other shows look like jewels by contrast: Mannix is one good example. But, this is certainly watchable, and fun.

Season 2 gets off to a fine start

The Quick Pitch: When the son of Soledade's dictator dies, Mundy is called in to steal his body. The government fears that if it is discovered he was poisoned, it could start a war with Soledade's neighbor.

One Night on Soledade is an interesting start to Season 2. If you're a fan of the more serious episodes with an intricate caper featuring drama and suspense around every corner, you'll probably not care for this Mundy adventure. One Night on Soeldade has a much lighter feel than a lot of what you'll run across in most of Season 1. A recording of ghostly noises in the catacombs, a dead body moving on the slab, and emeralds being deposited one-by-one in a woman's cleavage - not what you'll find in a serious spy story. Overall, I appreciated and enjoyed the change in tone and I'm interested to see which way the rest of Season 2 goes. I just hope this tonal shift doesn't go too far.

I'm sure I also noticed a change in Wagner's portrayal of Alexander Mundy. He seemed more relaxed and comfortable in the role. I think the lighter tone suited his personality. Don Weis' direction is equally relaxed, as this was Weis' seventh turn in the director's chair. The supporting cash is excellent with Thomas Gomez, Madlyn Rhue, and the gorgeous Nancy Kovack all giving very capable performances.

It takes a thief to steal a corpse
searchanddestroy-120 March 2015
Silly, rubbish, funny, that's exactly how I would describe this first episode of the second season. It tales place in a Caribbean island, where a dictator's son dies from poisoning, after dining with a beautiful lady. And it appears that our leads have in charge to get back the corpse to the states, to make an autopsy on it...Very refreshing tale, where it is absolutely useless to search for any serious scheme. I feel a slight change from the previous season, in voluntary silliness. But it's pretty entertaining, and that's only counts. Guest star: Tomas Gomez, as the aging dictator. The usual Don Weis as directing. The opening credits of this second season have also changed. You have here the split screen, as in the PERSUADERS or MANNIX.
