Robert Crosson and Steve Darrell are a father and son escorting a prisoner to meet a prison wagon known in the west as a Tumbleweed wagon. When their
prisoner attacks Crosson, Darrell has to shoot him. Which leaves them without
someone to deliver and earn that $100.00.
What to do but pick on a likely stranger so they attack a traveling Slim Sherman back from a stock buying trip. They deliver him to the waiting marshals for transportation to Colorado territorial prison.
John Smith is traveling with some real class company. Mountain man Hal Baylor who has his Shoshone wife trailing them, Elisha Cook, Jr, playing one of his patented weasel parts, and Jack Elam outlaw leader scheduled to hang and whose band is looking to bust him out.
As you can imagine Smith has to keep his wits about him to survive. The devil is in the details as to how Slim Sherman makes it back to Sherman station.
Trust me, it's quite a tale.
