The one where Shannon gets amnesia
jdollak27 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The amnesia part isn't a spoiler exactly - it's the setup. And the was one of the most conflicted episodes I've seen.

The mission involves going after a drug lord. On the way to her role, posing as a singer at the drug lord's club, Shannon is in a plane crash and has amnesia.

And she has a romance with the nephew of the drug lord.

All of this derails the team's plans. They decide to focus on getting Shannon back.

This episode is noteworthy, in that it humanized Shannon's character much more than anything else. She's a bit more flirty and playful through more of the episode. She smiles a lot. After she regains her memory, she agrees to go through using her wedding as an opportunity for the team to complete their mission.

While most of the ruses in Mission Impossible are just issues of deception, we rarely feel conflicted about how ethical they are. In this case, we do.
