Many of the episodes in the second season of '89 Mission Impossible aren't too strong. They're fun, but they leave fans of the show a bit disappointed. They aren't as much about clever manipulation and deception, and use action as a filler to make for a more exciting 45 minutes.
This episode did a good job of combining both approaches. In an effort to uncover a plot, and secure the return of an original piece of artwork, the team pulls off a series of clever deceptions. We get to see some clever gadgets, a device that will produce a painting in the style of an artist. Shannon gets a stronger role than she usually gets, and even gets a few dramatic moments. And the whole thing ends in flames.
Much better than I expected the episode to be.
