A few years too late and a retread....

While IMDb doesn't indicate it, this one is a remake of one of the original episodes of "Mission: Impossible". Back in the 1960s, the notion of some Nazis trying to recreate a Fourth Reich was ridiculous...but not nearly as ridiculous as in the late 1980s.

The show begins with a prologue filled with stock footage. It seems that some Nazis were hiding some stolen gold. When the show then cuts back to 1988, Phelps tells his team that $5,000,000,000 in Nazi gold was about to be reclaimed by the grandsons of four high ranking Nazis. The four grandsons will head up a move to destabilize the world by funding global terrorism with the money. So, it's imperative they stop the four from getting together. If possible, they also need to reclaim this gold.

Oddly, the plan involves taking one of the four grandsons prisoner and having Nicholas (Thaao Penghlis) pretend to be this guy. I say odd because he hardly looks like an Aryan sort. Regardless, he's to meet with the three unknown grandsons and present credentials stolen from the real grandson and then find out where the gold is hidden.

In the meantime, Phelps and the rest of the team work on Alfred (the captured man) to make him talk. Using drugs and hypnosis, they learn the missing code numbers. But, it turns out the key is even MORE complicated. Can they work it all out before these Neo-Nazis show to collect their gold?

A good and exciting episode but a repeat as well as a plot idea that just doesn't make a lotta sense. Well worth seeing but a disappointment.
