Herman's Twin Is A Crook
ccthemovieman-129 March 2007
Uncle Charlie, Herman's twin brother, complete with Tweed coat, ascot and English accent, is visiting and Herman isn't happy. He knows Charlie is a crook, but can't prove it. At least Marilyn is on his side.

It turns out Herman is right as Charlie gets a phone call from another crook, played by movie actor Mike Mazurki.. Charlie is going to try to sell a phony uranium-making machine to the Munsters. Lily and Grandpa believe in him but Charlie finds out the Munsters have a rich widow neighbor, Mrs. Cartwright, so he heads in that direction to sell the machine to her.

Overall, this is first so-so Munster episode. Every one up to now has been a strong one, so I'm not complaining.

Con-man Munster.
BA_Harrison4 January 2009
Working on the flawed principle that two Hermans have got to be funnier than one, this episode sees the introduction of Herman's twin brother Charlie (also played by Fred Gwynne), who turns up on the Munster's doorstep in possession of an incredible invention—a machine that can extract Uranium from sea-water— which he claims will make them all millions. In reality, the whole thing is a scam to try and relieve Lily of a recent inheritance, but with Herman convinced that Charlie is not on the level, the con-artist turns his attention to the rich widow who lives next door.

Whilst it's amusing at first to see Gwynne playing Charlie, a smoother, more sophisticated version of Herman (resplendent in checked jacket and bowler and speaking with a plummy accent), the novelty soon wears off, and unfortunately the script just isn't sharp enough to support the rather weak storyline, which soon becomes too complicated for its own good.
