***MAJOR SPOILERS*** Paying English teacher Mr. Gabriel, Richard Ward, a visit during recess session Lewis, Maxwell Glanville, and one of his tugs Chub, Woodie King Jr, work the guy over so hard that they end up killing him. The hoods seem to be upset in what Mr. Gabriel is teaching his students reading writing and arithmetic but by the time this N.Y.P.D. episode is over we find out that he's been teaching them how to make a quick buck that was to interfere with Lewis' operations in the "Hood".

It's NYPD detective Jeff Ward, Robert Hooks,a former student of Mr. Gabriel who's life he turned around from being a street thug to an upstanding citizen who personally takes on the case in finding Mr. Gabriel's killers. In doing that Ward gets no cooperation from the people in the "Hood" and only ends up with a few bumps on his head-as well as kick in the face- for his efforts. But in the end Ward finds out just what his "Hero" Mr. Gabriel was really all about!

Who in fact was using his students to collect cash from the neighborhood small businessmen & women as protection from Lewis' thugs! And it was the duped, by Mr. Gabriel, Det. Ward by putting his life on the line in finding his killers whom unknown to Det. Ward he was working with as well as stiffing them.
