Target: Steve Austin
coltras3519 December 2023
Steve poses as a newlywed with another OSI agent to uncover who broke into headquarters in search of an atomic bomb. He and another agent are suppose to pose as a married couple while transporting a power unit. Steve is unaware that a lookalike of his "wife" agent has been created. While in transit they grab her and send their ringer in to take over ...

Actually an entertaining episode with good action, a nice road setting and some tense moments. It's also odd and refreshing to see two old biddies play enemy agent. It bucks the stereotypical trend of them being portrayed as harmless and useless. There's a great scene of Steve stopping a lift from cashing and also patching up a hole on a rickety bridge.

Just an Okay Episode

Warning: Spoilers
Steve and a female OSI agent are assigned to pose as a married couple, while transporting a nuclear device by road, with the device installed inside of a recreational van. While driving cross country, Steve doesn't realize at first that his female partner was replaced by an impersonator-- and she is secretly giving out their location throughout the drive. Spy allies of hers set up traps along the road, which Steve manages to largely escape at first. It isn't until he tries to cross a wooden bridge that some real problems erupt. There is a climax involving a helicopter and an attempt to finally get the device from him.

There is some interesting action at a handful of times during the episode, and some intriguing use of Steve's bionic strength to get the RV past the rickety bridge. (Though the sequence ends up overly long). Steve's female partner- spy though she is-- is very attractive as well.

This is more of a standard spy intrigue episode- no aliens, no Bigfoot, no blatant science fiction or fantasy elements, beside the bionic man himself. Still this comes across as a rather mundane episode, since his companion isn't much of a threat. There is an interesting turn from an elderly couple who are actually enemy spies.

In a close up of the canister after the shooting there's a bullet hole but later in another close up the hole is not there.
