Guest Starring Cheech & Chong!

Cherokee Hair Tampons is a fairly funny but also somewhat depressing South Park episode.Kyle is sick and needs a kidney transplant. However Kyle's mother is taking him to this new herbal medicine place. It is the new fad. They think it is making him better when it is really making him worse.Stan is sad because he wants to help his friend, he then finds out the only suitable kidney doner is Cartman.Cartman will not give it to Kyle because well...he's an a**hole! The herbal store is run by two characters who are voiced by Cheech & Chong!(for those who d'ont know cheech & chong, they were a stoner comedy duo like Harold & Kumar from the late 70's & early 80's).Meanwhile, the school decides to give Mr.Garrison a leave from teaching. So he decides to write a romance novel. However it turns out to be mostly about penises! This is a fairly good episode with some really funny moments(and also a bit of drama)!

Warning: Spoilers
Just last night I saw for the very first time a film with Cheech and Chong (I saw and loved Up in Smoke) so today I decided to watch this South Park episode from Season 4 (and that originally aired on June 28 2000) in which Cheech and Chong did an special appearance.

In the DVD mini commentary Trey Parker and Matt Stone says that this was the first thing Cheech and Chong did together in years and that both of them were totally open to do the show but neither one of them knew that the other one was totally open to do it. Anyway, I don't remember when was the last time I saw Cherokee Hair Tampons, I think I only saw it once when I got the DVD set of Season 4. Certainly I didn't consider this episode as a favourite of mine and now after seeing it again today I have to say that it is a terrific episode but still I don't consider it as a personal favourite from Season 4.

Two plots, one following Mr. Garrison after he stops being a teacher (thanks to his police record). Basically is just Garrison writing a book but are very funny those few scenes with him, all end with Garrison writing a romance novel in which the word penis appears like 6,000 times but still the book is published, Garrison with his novel "In the Valley of Penises" is a best-selling author!

We see Kyle receiving a copy of that book from Garrison as a get well present since he just had a kidney transplant operation. We have this story as the main one of this episode, a very sick Kyle (we learn that Kyle has diabetes) and a very worried Stan. Certainly Kyle needs to see a doctor, is just f****** obvious but why take Kyle to a hospital if all he needs is holistic medicine to cure him from the toxins? Well he needs only holistic medicine if you ask to Miss Information and most of the town (of course including Sheila Broflovski and Sharon Marsh) believes everything that Miss Information says. Here Cheech is Carlos Ramirez and Chong is Chief Running Pinto, Native Americans and damn they make a fine business selling just about anything as holistic items (the Cherokee hair tampons are certainly a success! Very memorable live action commercial) but they are like "hey, that kid needs to see a doctor" when they see Kyle. Check this stuff with Cheech and Chong, the stuff with Cartman when he laughs really hard and when he learns that he is Kyle's only hope to live and the stuff with a pretty angry Kenny (he acts for a moment just like Cartman!). This is a terrific episode but just not one of the very best from Season 4.
