Garth is enticed by a beautiful and super smart Teale. He makes some clumsy moves but she elects to stay with Commander Garoway and go back to the dead earth.

Space Senility?

The exploration ship Pisces returns to the Ark after what was supposed to be a 10 year mission. Stunned Devon (Keir Dullea), Garth (Robin Ward) & Rachel (Gay Rowan) don't even know how to begin to tell Pisces commander Colonel Garoway (Lloyd Bochner) and his two crew-mates Teale (Carol Lazare) and Janis (Diana Barrington) that they are roughly 400 years off schedule or that the course of the Ark is headed for the heart of the sun unless they can stop it.
It does not become readily apparent to the crew of the Pisces what has happened and they invite Devon, Garth & Rachel to come with them whilst they reconoitre. The Pisces crew pass out and barely regain consciousness in time to re-dock with the Ark. They have been traveling at the speed of light for ten years which is why they are so tired. They also have 'Space Senility' - a condition brought on by extended time traveling at the speed of light.
By the end of this installment the Pisces may just as well never have landed. I never understood the reason for this episode but non-sequential episodes with subplots opened and closed within the same teleplay were a favorite amongst affiliates to broadcast as reruns.
The costuming on this show had its highs and lows. The Pisces crew uniforms, like the uniforms of Ark crew members throughout the series were quite presentable. The colonial 1800s-style frontier costumes that Devon, Garth & Rachel wore were also quite presentable. But most of the other costumes were disasters that seemingly happen when a wardrobe mistress has her budget cut and has to improvise.
We also see filmed exteriors of the Ark juxtaposed with videotaped ones of the toy model of it that they had been using. We see reaction shots in video matched with action shot on film which probably looked fishy even to audiences who hadn't studied film. Use of stock footage that doesn't resemble what it is blended with just looks odd. They did more of it in this episode than they had in the previous three.
