The Keg ****1/2

Original Air Date: October 25th, 1998

What do you do when you find a keg of beer in the middle of the street? You sacrifice a virgin to the gods! No, wait...that can't be right. Actually, the correct answer is: take it to a vacant house and have a party in the empty backyard pool! Based on this simple premise, another chapter in the scrawny little neighbor boy/saucy redhead next door saga unfolds beautifully. Between passing notes and cutting class, the monotony of everyday routine is broken up by this exciting discovery; what can only be described as the equivalent to the holy grail of tantalizing teenage fantasy.

As evidenced by this show, beer can make people do some strange things. It can turn Kelso into a mathematical genius or transform Eric into a hose-swinging macho man, though one of the real highlights of this episode actually takes place back at the Forman residence. When Red and Bob get wind of the situation and go out looking for the party, Kitty and Midge get drunk off daiquiris while watching "Rich Man, Poor Man" and share a few too many details about their personal lives with each other. This is the kind of one-on-one interaction that makes "That '70s Show" such a memorable fascination. Not only can the writers of the show pull off purely kinetic comic mishaps on grand scales, they can also pay attention to littler details that ensure not a moment of this twenty-two minute installment is wasted. Overall, "The Keg" is just one more magnificent monument in this sitcom's lasting legacy.

The Keg (#1.6)

Warning: Spoilers
An episode where Eric cuts class and they end up finding a keg. They decide to throw a keg party in an empty pool and have some obstacles to face such as finding a way to open the keg and that Bob and Red are looking for them.

A very fun episode. Them dealing with this keg was a fun thing as well as the great idea of having a party in the empty pool which was Jackie and Michael's make out place. I loved Eric changing and standing up to the idiots ripping their money and giving it back.

The parents once again had some good times too with Kitty and Midge drinking daiquiri and talking.

Wonder why...

I wonder why in future episodes of "That 70's Show", did they have Brooke Shields play the part of Jackie Burkhart's mother when in this earlier episode, they had Eve Plumb play her even though all she really had was a cameo, when she walked to the back of the house she was selling with the prospective buyers only to find Jackie and all the youth from Point Place, at the bottom of the empty swimming pool having their kegger party. Not that Brooke Shields isn't a great actress but it was so inconsistent and I know... it's not "reality" TV but I like consistent character actors. Besides the show already had one younger looking beautiful mom (Midge, played by Tanya Roberts), so I guess what I'm saying is, Eve Plumb would have made a more believable "mom" character than Brooke Shields.

1x6: The keg

The first classic episode to me.

Pretty much only pros cause this episode is a 10/10 to me. The main plot is great all throughout starts with Eric and Donna ditching school. One of the few times we see the inside of a classroom. Hyde and kelso waking up in the back of the vista cruiser. The scene when they find the keg on the road is iconic. The stuff with them trying to hide it from kitty was all great. Them taking it to Jackie and kelsos make out place. The scene with kelso having to go get a tap always makes me laugh. We get the two doofus who actually are one of the few times kelso is smarter than someone. His interaction with the two guys after they break the tap. The other trying to make him feel better about it. The break stuff and then give it back it's real classy. Eric going on a mission to steal his dads tap after the other was broken. So Eric goes off mostly cause of Donna. Him in the house trying to direct arojnd drunk kitty and midge is really funny. The B plot is also great and connects with the main plot with red and bob going after the gang when kitty and midge say they are borrowing a tub of ice and red solo cups. So many great scenes like them in the car and then finding the gang bob comforting Donna and red sending Eric home. Red and bob drinking beer from the keg with the cops and then taking his tap with him after they have to leave. They do touch upon Eric and Donnas relationship a little but not to much in this episode.

Amazing episode really the only negative I got to say is. Jackie's mom is different but doesn't bother me to much cause I mean it was in season 1 and a small cameo only for like one scene, even though they really dumbed her down later in the show. And yes the midge and kitty stuff seems pretty filler but I don't hate it. Again kitty not suspecting of Eric, not even a little bit was pretty hard to believe seems like reds learned since the pilot.
