An honour for Dibley.

Dibley is given a rare honour, the chance to host Songs on Praise, in walks producer Tristan, who instantly bowls Geraldine over. David also has his world turned upside down.

I enjoyed the first episode, this second one is hilarious, it has so many laugh out loud moments, and some terrific lines. Favourite moment has to be the tragic scene where Alice gives the lesson from an old text, and mixes up her letters. Favourite line comes from Geraldine, got to a disco take a condom, go to The Vicarage, take a raspberry sponge, genius.

Peter Capaldi is wonderful as the dashing Tristan, Connie Hyde is also lovely.

A sign of episodes to come, 9/10.

Two bad

Only the second episode and already a dip in the series. Even in the 1990's the homophobic reference was probably uncalled for. And Geraldine acts like a school-girlish twit in most of her scenes, pining over the young TV producer. David also is smitten by a BBC employee, but his chances are about the same as the vicar's with hers.

Although there are some clever jokes (many supplied by Alice) the whole episode just seemed forced and off-kilter. Redemption comes after the final credits with another clever joke about the nuns in Transylvania (are all the post-credit jokes going to be about nuns?).
