Lou's Big Mistake
Hitchcoc27 February 2017
Lou has too much to drink and ends up spending the night with Su Ann Nivens. He is like a bull when he comes to work, unshaven, missing his socks. He finally tells Mary and she promises not to tell anyone. It doesn't take Murray long to get her to admit what Lou told her. In the newsroom, Murray lets it slip that Mary told him. This leads to Lou telling her they can not be friends any more. Ted is playing detective, missing all the obvious clues and coming to several ridiculous conclusions. Once again, this show managed to surpass just about anything on TV at the time (or any time, for that matter).

Great and basically inevitable episode !

Warning: Spoilers
The circumstances in this episode seem almost inevitable if you know the characters. A sweetly fun,and very-flirty lady on one hand, and an obviously-lonely guy,on the other hand, sooner or later they get together for a few drinks after work, and one thing leads to another.. Nothing surprising or unusual about that. The show goes like this: The hilarious Sue-Ann Nevins,(played by the awesome Betty White) steals the show as the flirt. Lou Grant, played by Ed Asner,is the lonely guy. Mary is told about the 'secret' at the begining of the show by a remorseful and hung-over Lou Grant. Mary promises not to tell a soul, but ends up telling Murray within hours. Sue-Ann is not straight-out telling people what happened between her and Lou,but she's not going out of her way to hide it either. The 'secret' romantic interlude quickly becomes the hot topic of the newsroom. It is a sweetly comical episode, everyone does a great job with their parts and it clicks well together. Check it out!

Well done
Rrrobert10 February 2020
Lou gets drunk and spends the night with Sue Ann. Horrified at what happened Lou confides in Mary, who betrays his trust and tells Murray. In some well-acted scenes we see how this badly damages the relationship between Mary and Lou.

Meanwhile Lou struggles to let Sue Ann down gently, while Ted tries to find out the identity of Sue Ann's new man - missing the very obvious evidence she lets out.
