Plot; When ancient ruins arrive from Ireland they awaken the spirit of Samhain, who attempts to make Halloween night last forever.
Been in the mood to go back and check out some Real Ghostbusters of late, and I figured what better time than nearly two weeks after Halloween. Yeah. Anyway, I've always held the 'toon in high regard for its humor and genuinely spooky stories and baddies, and "When Halloween Was Forever" doesn't disappoint in either regard.
Like their big screen counterparts, the Ghostbusters are extremely likable and bounce well off of each other. They've been simplified a bit. Peter's a bit more dopey than he is smarmy, Ray's golly-gee factor is raised up several notches, and Egon is more of a community college egghead. But its Winston who fares best, feeling more like a fourth pillar than a third wheel. Slimer here is the token "cute" character. Like Orko and Snarf before him, your mileage will vary. Samhain is truly a scary dude and none of his actions are played for humor. It's not Hard-R horror, but for a mid-80s kids cartoon he's pretty darn spooky!
