History Buffs Will Love It
littlewhitedogs223 January 2009
I have watched this show for years and loved it. I really enjoy seeing homes that someone brought back to their original life and beauty when they would have probably been torn down instead. I always find something to be amazed at. The historically appealing tidbits, and interesting 'myseries' are my reasons to watch. Many of the shows are similar, but that never bothers me. I fail to see how the host (Mike Siegel) of this TV show is 'aggravating' in any way, as the previous reviewer stated. Corny at times, yes, but entertaining and fun would be a better way to say it, unless you are just someone that has no sense of humor. I think he's cute.

To me, the most aggravating part of this show is when they talk about how much something is worth and they look so dang goofy while there is this heavy pause designed to get you to want to know the answer... and I really don't care at all. That's the only thing that bothers me about the show, and even that's no big deal. I love this show and HGTV stopped showing it this year and I'm hoping it was just the season end, but it'll return.

Great Show

I recently discovered this show one day when I was channel surfing . It is truly one of those best kept secrets on TV . I throughly enjoy every aspect of this program .From all of the locations around the US , to seeing these homes sometimes over a hundred years old and all of the neat little things people find there . It is very interesting seeing so many old homes with so much history . Also I find myself at least once every episode saying to myself WOW or now that was cool . If you enjoy anything about American History then this is the show for you or if you just think it's neat to see into other peoples homes and connecting with people who have put so much sweat and tears into preserving people's past ( former homes owners ) and try to maintain it for the next generation . Hey this is coming from a guy who normally loves Sci Fi and Action shows and movies . I have got my whole family and extended family into watching this show and none of us ever miss an episode . So in conclusion if you haven't had the chance to watch this show or maybe you never even heard of it tune into HGTV and watch or record an episode or two , I guarantee you won't be disappointed . And together maybe we can keep this program on the air . Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope it helps .

Best Ever HGTV Show
HarlowMGM21 August 2023
I loved this show back in the day! HGTV was pure gold in it's first decade with interesting home and garden shows with excellent hosts and this was my top favorite. Mike Siegel was perhaps the best host, he was comic but never putting his personality above the program which alas most hosts of shows like this do now. Phillip Palmer (very different) was a close runnerup, smooth and professional; Grant Goodeve was good, too. I loved how the new owners of these vintage homes celebrated and honored the late residents of the past; I'm afraid most new owners of old homes probably trash any momentos left behind in attics and cabinets, particularly things like photos and ephemera which is not worth much. I recorded several of these in the good old days of dvd recorders (alas, as gone today as the old treasures the new homeowners found in these houses.) Back in the first decade of this century I barely watched any television other than Turner Classic Movies and HGTV, sadly the glory days of HGTV are long since gone,

Good show, bad host

"If Walls Could Talk..." is a series about older homes and the secrets that they hold. Various homes across the country are featured, with flashback segments showing their current owners uncovering secret histories of previous occupants. This show has the potential to be very good. My wife and I love all of the old homes and their stories that are featured on the series. That being said, the host of this series has got to be one of the most annoying hosts in the history of television. He is a major yukker-upper and almost ruins the show in my book. Overly perky is putting it lightly, and I am often embarrassed for him as I watch him attempt to be humorous. All in all, I think that the show is around a 7 or 8, but I have to knock it down to a 6 because of the aggravating host.
