Beginning of the end of an era

Warning: Spoilers
It's the start of the PC era - post-Compo. Leaving Clegg & truly to go into Clegg's house to deal with Howard's latest stupid scheme, Compo (or a double; Bill Owen was pretty ill by this time) goes off on his own saying "I'll see thee later. It's me Thursday." Something that has never been mentioned before but which sets up the Surprise at Throstlenest a few episodes from now.

That is admittedly a great surprise and very appropriate for Compo, but it still feels shoehorned in.

Never mind. It's just a shame that it makes the viewer realise we've nearly reached that sad event. Compo remains the best character in the whole show & he'll be missed.
