Sex & Nudity

  • A man and a woman are scene about to have intercourse, but are stopped in the middle of it. No graphic nudity is seen, but the woman is seen wearing only a braw and panties.
  • There are a few scenes where couples are presumably about to engage in intercourse, but they are all interrupted before anything could happen.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is seen being beaten by guards, and is later heard being shot offscreen.
  • Bloody dead bodies are shown inside a truck, some of them with missing limbs.
  • Patients with severe wounds are seen frequently.
  • A man shoots himself in the head. A small stream of blood can be seen on the side of his head.
  • A woman falls to her death and is killed instantly. Not too graphic.
  • A man gets his hand bludgeoned with an object, causing it to bleed.
  • We see a few people get killed or crushed by large objects, but it is not gory nor very graphic.

Profanity

  • "Damn" is used a few times throughout the film.
  • The film is set around a Nazi ship, with the main protagonists likely sympathizing the Nazi party.
  • Swastikas, persons in Nazi uniforms, and portraits of Hitler are seen frequently throughout the film.

  • A group of people are having a small celebration involving a few drinks of alcohol. It is very mild however.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A lifeboats rope breaks and its occupants are thrown out.
  • The concept of a ship sinking with lots of innocent people dying, combined with the circumstances of the films setting, is very upsetting in itself.
  • Rows of body bags are seen, some of them being children.
  • The ship is very crowded. Passengers crowd, trip, scream, and get stepped on. May be claustrophobic for some viewers.
  • The sinking scene is chaotic and dramatic. May be intense for some viewers.
  • Many dead bodies are shown bobbing in the water, including children.

Violence & Gore

  • A man and a woman are shot and killed. However, it is shown distantly.
  • A dog is shot off screen. However, we see its body moments later (some blood) watch as the dog is thrown into the ocean. This scene may be upsetting for some veiwers.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • It is implied that many people drown.
  • We see the second torpedo hit the Gustloff's swimming pool where the female naval auxiliaries are being held, causing an explosion which floods and destroys it quickly. It is implied that they are all killed in a somewhat grusome fashion. Some might find the scene frightening or intense.
  • We see the body of a child who froze to death. The body is not gory, but the child's skin soon becomes pale, and it has been mentioned that the family had kept the child's body for days.
  • A woman cries and mourns the body of another woman who died.
  • A woman gets separated from her child.
  • A woman mourns her 2 dead children, who are wrapped up in small body bags. The woman is clearly the same one who had her baby taken away, which implies that the baby died.
  • A woman dies after giving birth.
  • In one scene, see many people trapped inside the ship as it sinks to the bottom of the sea. It is implied that they drown. The scene is very nerve-racking and claustrophobic.
  • We see fighter planes open fire on a tugboat full of civilians. We don't see any casualties ensue, but the scene is intense nonetheless.
