I think most people here don't get the point...
Wikingking27 July 2019
I've read the ratings and some of the non-spoiler user reviews before watching the whole season - the benefits of catching up late :)

Many people criticise that Saitama's screentime was badly reduced and that there are way too many time given to a huge number of different heroes of the Heroes Association. Also, another point was that the main character of the season seems to be the "Human Kaiju" Garou, but the whole show was supposed to be about Saitama.

I disagree. This is still Saitama's show, but I like this new approach and storytelling and how it widened the view on the world of OPM. The first season had a few separate incidents only to show the incredible power of Saitama and all the characters were subordinated to this specific goal. Each and everyone we got to know was key to move the story forward - in this regard, I agree that S1 was superior. However, it was pretty one-sided and I don't think that another copy-paste with different monsters would have done the trick for a second time. Thus the writers went to a different road and it is true that Saitama is somewhat of a side-character and we get to know Garou's story, which is pretty well-written btw.

I liked how we were introduced to a lot of different high level heroes, the fighting scenes were spot on most of the time and there are a lot of them, much more action in S2 than it was in S1. Garou's story is deep, the different heroes are funny and interesting enough (for me at least), the returning characters, like Genos or White Fang are still very cool and well, Saitama is still OP. But this is the point after all and Season 2 uses this "final move" of writing very well.

Look, I really adored season 1 when it came out, it was stupid fun from the first second of it to the very last. This season was a bit deeper, more mature in a sense (still funny) and it takes itself just a tad bit more seriously. I don't think this is a problem, but I must say that the entire second season feels as a mid-act before the finale - which will supposed to be season 3 now? In this regard, yes, there are some things left to be desired. Animation is noticably worse than season 1 but then again, I think it was season 1 being absolutely amazing and this one is just OK. It's not bad by any means.

As for the whole season it is still funny, still OPM-ish, extremely action-packed anime which also has its more serious, touching moments. The main difference is that while the first season was built around Saitama and used his pov 90% of the time, this time the POV jumps from one character to another but the point is that we get to know how the existence of Saitama affects people around him and the world he lives in. This influence of Saitama to everyone he ever meets is the essence of this season and to really appreciate his omnipotence we must learn how these people can handle their situations first. My rating of 9 is for the whole season itself...it is more likely to be 8.5, but who cares.

Best Episode, Worst Finale
glaneljhonathan1 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was the best episode so far in terms of how the construction of scenes go; the monster was menacing, the fight was interesting & the final scene was satisfying. But as a finale, it was not the best choice to go along with this, especially & solely because they took 4 long years to get to this season. This lukewarm, character development season is certainly not what one would expect to get after waiting for so long. The best they could've done was to increase the number of episodes, or better yet, made 24 episodes, released 12 now & then 12 later as part 2 of the second season & finished this plot.

I know they were trying to set up the whole background of the monsters association world to drag the series longer, but it felt like a sudden change in tone & goal & premise of the whole show. First season was monsters popping out of nowhere, this season was trying to give it meaning & hinting that they all might've been created by Orochi's monster cells all along. They are trying to make it an ultimate fight between the monsters & hero association, and that's good, but still something was missing, the essence of the first season, perhaps, or the fact that it didn't seem to manage to connect the dots that well. The first season was primarily an odd ball comedy, this season was like a generic superhero anime that we already have plenty of, with some jokes sprinkled & some jokes forced here & there, not that it was bad or anything, but still not up to the mark as season 1. It was like a restart of sorts.

Many things were getting kinda repetitive, and not in a good way; there was just too much holding back going on this season, and all that felt too forced, just so that they could drag it longer to make another season. At this point, I was left feeling bad for the other heroes failing miserably all the time, instead of seeing it as a joke like earlier, and I was left questioning how did they survive this long at all! And Saitama kept showing up too late as a growing trend. Either bring Saitama in often & on time, or vary the timing, & make it funny; or make some of the other heroes, like Genos, genuinely stronger & give them their due credit, make up your mind!

I am, however, ready to be satisfied with this season, as long as they don't take another 3 & a half years to make the next season, & come back within a year or almost 2 years max, or else what's the point of this season?

Thanks for atleast making it though. Even though it was underwhelming as a whole season, I did enjoy watching the episodes & appreciated the craftsmanship. So, yeah, just come back soon.

Seriously who gives a crap about the 200 different heroes in the Hero Association. The whole point of this show is to see Saitama beat the crap out of people and him not getting a single scratch. Some moments were good but because of the reduced screentime for Saitama I felt bored...

Good ending
iremvidewb3 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode elevates the entire season. Saitama shows up at the end and finally delivers his killing punch in such a manner that the viewer is reminded this show really is about One Punch Man. Even though he was absent for a large amount of season 2, it seems this season was focused on introducing more of the world and other characters and once season 3 is finished (assuming it is continuing) I expect season 2 to fit better in terms of pacing for a bigger story.

I was astonished by S1 and S2 also shocked me but in a bad way.

I think it was just like game of thrones. We were so hyped and they served as low footage of Saitama as possible. Like dude wtf ? He's your lead and he's playing arcade all the time. I wish genos had less fights. I am very disappointed.

Finally!
marcus_sparrow4 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Amazing, fluid, epic animation all the way through. Great moments for the characters involved.

Still bad sound effects and the skipped tree scene from the manga, changed to a cringe anime scream from best boi Garou made this only a 9, but this is a well-earned 9.

I'm happy to see that they tried their best at the last 3 episodes.

It's just become your avergage okay anime now. I really hope we can get back to season 1's standard in the future. Compared to it right now there is just so much lacking in pacing, plot buildup, visuals, dialogue. There were a few really cool shots in the last fight, but I just wish we got to see much more from Saitama's perspective. He hasn't had any development in the entire season. I realize they are following the manga more, but I think it would be better to follow it a bit more loosely instead of going chapter by chapter.

Didn't know this was the last episode.

Very disappointed overal. It was still fun but not a fanale. This season was so Saitama deprived I've been looking forward to the big showdown at the end of the season with him and the monster king or the hero hunter. But instead we get no conclusions at all and are basically at the same point in the story as the first episode. The episodes individually were good but the overal plot was majorly lacking.

Not bad but still...
samet-mecit-sengul5 July 2019
You see, I love(d) this show. It was different from others animes because the charecters and scenario was cleverly(and drama free) written. Humor was on point in every episode, never bores you.But this season they lost these key elements.I barely laughed and plot was never that exiciting.I truly believe the first season was a game changer but they couldnt keep it up.Still a good show but not nearly as good as the first season.

What the WHAT!!!!
garabedian12311 July 2019
THis episode was the season finale? Are you kidding me. I thought we were at the mid point of season 2...The show just went from having an amazing 1st season and being one of the best animes of all time to...this pile of garbage..There are some good ideas in season 2., but they are dragged out. Not to mention the animation as like looking at a comic book..The first season had amazing fluid animation and season 2 has...Garou? Garou is cool, but had I known that they were going to basically get rid of Saitama...he was in like 3 episodes this season...Then I would not have watched it period..
