Saw this at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival yesterday. Extremely clever plot acted unforgettably well by the two brothers. About a third of the way through the film it becomes apparent there is more going on than just the Director telling the Actor how to act a scene. A little later we become aware they are brothers, and intuit that the Director has long standing issues with his Actor brother. The ulterior motives of the Director are flawlessly expressed and the Actor character provides a unique dramatic and comedic performance trying to escape from a confining, rocky hole without showing, as the Director says, too much "dignity". The rocky hole setting heightens the drama and comedy of the plot and dialog. The Actor and Director make-up and costuming were picture perfect.
