has it all for halloween

It was obvious to me that the show was combining action, story, and laughs for the Halloween celebration - and I thought it worked very effectively. Combining three intriguing subplots, this episode managed to parody almost every slasher movie ever made, with plenty of laughs, action scenes, and even some touching moments along the way. Jay Hernandez really taps into Magnum's carefree but determined character here, and Perdita Weeks as Higgins and all of the four supporting regulars are given the opportunity to shine in their roles. This is not a straight drama episode. It is written and played very tongue-in-cheek, but the action and mystery is still there, all the time having some Halloween fun. It also provides some welcome insight into the backgrounds of Kumu and Matsumoto, always played extremely well by Amy Hill and Tim Kang. Plus, as an added bonus, Bobby Lee is back as Jin, one of the best played con artists on TV currently. It ends with a nice feeling of just how these characters are becoming more like a family. Don't take this one too seriously - just sit back and have some Halloween fun.

I like the series but....

I am happy to see a season 2. I am pulling for magnum pi to stick around. The chemistry between magnum and the female Higgins is great. However this episode is horrible. A disjointed mess. You can see what they were trying to accomplish here but it fell flat. Emotionless dribble.

Bobby Lee is Horrible

Two episodes in a row with Bobby Lee killing anything positive about this show! This time, there are four split stories. Katsumato and his partner are looking for an escaped serial killer. Magnum and Bobby Lee are looking for a bail jumper. Higgins and Rick are in a haunted house looking for a screeching cat behind the walls. Kumo and TC are in a vacant lot guarding an ancient holy altar. Each story gets about ten minutes in little chunks after every commercial.

The supporting cast for Magnum is not bad. TC and Rick are actually better actors than the original versions from the 1980s. Katsumoto is great. Too bad he cannot take over as Magnum PI. Higgins does a good job of complementing the very awful Magnum.

Magnum is the weakest link here. Pairing him up with Bobby Lee just made it worse. Bobby Lee is an awful actor. He is still dressing up as women like he always did on MadTV years ago, except now he is even fatter than he was, and he looks like Amy Hill when he is wearing the white dress. Magnum does nothing in this episode, except drive around and get late to help Rich and Higgins. Bobby Lee does nothing except prance around in a dress like that would be entertaining or funny.

Overall, this was pretty bad. Hopefully Bobby Lee will not become a recurring character. Two incredibly bad actors like Bobby Lee and Jay Hernandez together will kill anything good about Magnum PI.

Rubbish

Stop the childish obsession with Halloween, it spoils numerous programmes every year.
