Dragamonz is a little known series of shorts, compiled together in early 2020 to tell the story of Dax as he attempts to unite the five elemental leaders and restore peace to Dragamar.
A big part of the series is it's art, which is good for the budget and suits the needs of the show. I found the fights, while possibly a little underwhelming at times, to really highlight the characters and the art-style they went with. It's a fresh approach compared to other franchises like Pokemon, and on a less bombastic budget.
The story isn't a highlight of the series, if I were to be honest with you, but its not bad either. It's what to expect from a children's show, but I do think the addition of tribe leaders wanting Dax to prove his ability in combat is a fun way to switch things up. It keeps the whole story from being too formulaic.
Dragamonz, overall, is a good show, and a great partner to the series of toys being released under the Dragamonz banner (which is currently awaiting its 2nd series). The show combines the nostalgic and simple artstyle of Bionicle, the cheesy-but-enjoyable dialogue of Pokemon, and story elements from other stories like Wings of Fire. Does it get a little repetitive? Sure, it does at times. But is it fun? Absolutely.
