Miss Jean Brodie is an unconventional teacher in Newcastle but she yearns to return to her native Scotland.
An interesting start to the series. One early scene shows Miss Brodie in a tea shop where she is confronted by the school gym teacher. She accuses Jean of being dismissive of sports and team spirit. She turns down a marriage proposal from her wealthy gentleman friend George Jenkins. She then finds out about a job in Edinburgh with Marcia Blaine's School For Girls. This is where the remainder of the series takes place. We find out that Jean is an admirer of Benito Mussolini. In the final scene she celebrates her 40th birthday in her new Edinburgh flat. This sets things up for future episodes.
