Back in 2013, Amazon decided to let viewers decide which series it produced. The streamer put all of its contending pilots online and based the decision of which series to pick on viewer feedback from the pilots. The policy has led to quite a few unpopular and critically lambasted series getting full-season orders. That's going to change as the streamer ditches the feedback model and cancels several of its current series, including Sea Oak and Love You More.

Amazon Studios continues to inch toward scrapping its viewer feedback model.
On Monday, the streaming outlet and retail giant passed on three of its five comedy pilots, with Sea Oak, The Climb and Love You More no longer moving forward. The fate of its two remaining pilots — Greg Daniels' single-camera Upload and multicam Making Friends, from How I Met Your Mother...

Each year, Amazon releases a handful of their pilot episodes for Prime members to stream. This is a unique twist on determining the worth of new series -- viewer feedback factors prominently into Amazon's pickup decisions. Recent Amazon hits such as Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle, and recently The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel have all weathered Amazon pilot season to become full fledged series.
Yet while this trend is potentially on its way out the door, we were still offered a fresh batch of pilot episodes to help get us through fall of 2017: The Climb, Love You More, and Sea Oak. But which of these three (if any) have the most potential for receiving a full series pickup?...

Director Sam Taylor-Johnson says it’s the love story at the center of Fifty Shades of Grey that drew her to the project. But for readers familiar with the sexually elicit trilogy, which begins filming in Vancouver next week, Fifty Shades of Grey is no traditional love story.

In the continuing saga of “Fifty Shades of Grey” working its way to theaters, there’s more news on the comings and goings on that production. As we reported yesterday, Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) has dropped out because of “scheduling issues”- though my gut tells me it had more to do with the script.
In the wake of that news, and possibly confirming my suspicion, a new writer has been brought on to polish up the script. Patrick Marber, whose credits include sexually-charged dramas such as “Closer” and “Notes on A Scandal,” is the man handling the rewrite. He has an established working relationship with “Fifty Shades” director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, as they worked together on a short called “Love You More.”
The Hollywood Reporter claims the current list of candidates to replace Hunnam includes Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood), Theo James (Underworld: Awakening), Christian Cooke (Magic City), and Jamie Dornan (UK series,...

True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard and The Fall's Jamie Dornan are reportedly on a list of possible replacements for Charlie Hunnam, who exited the Fifty Shades of Grey movie at the weekend.
Theo James and Christian Cooke are also being considered, The Hollywood Reporter says, while the film has announced that writer Patrick Marber has been hired to refine the script.
Oscar-nominated Marber previously worked on Closer and Notes on a Scandal. He also wrote a short film, Love You More, which was directed by Fifty Shades' Sam Taylor-Johnson.
The movie adaptation of El James's novel will still begin shooting next month, so long as the replacement for Hunnam is found in time.

The sudden departure of Charlie Hunnam over the weekend from the film adaptation of erotic novel season "Fifty Shades of Grey" has left a casting gap to fill… and fast.
Hunnam left the project just several weeks before it was slated to begin filming, so a replacement will have to be inserted quicker than the producers and director Sam Taylor-Johnson are likely comfortable with.
As of now, the studio is revisiting previous candidates it clicked with. The first back-up candidate, Garrett Hedlund, is out of the running due to his commitments to Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken".
Two favourites at present are Alexander Skarsgard ("True Blood," "Battleship") and Jamie Dornan ("The Fall," "Once Upon a Time"), while both Theo James ("Divergent," "Bedlam") and Christian Cooke ("Magic City," "Romeo and Juliet") are also said to be getting another look over.

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie, already scrambling in the wake of star Charlie Hunnam's abrupt departure this weekend, has hit yet another snag. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the script is undergoing some major work only weeks before production is set to begin.
Oscar-nominated screenwriter Patrick Marber ("Notes on a Scandal") has been tapped "to do a polish and character work on the script," reports THR, though Marber was hired before Hunnam announced he was leaving the project. Marber previously worked with "Fifty Shades" director Sam Taylor-Johnson on a short film called "Love You More."
While the production appears to be a bit of a mess at this point, sources tell THR that Marber's polish of writer Kelly Marcel's screenplay is "standard" procedure in Hollywood, and that "the script is ready for a November start date, should the studio be able to find a new leading man in time.

Universal Pictures and Focus Features have officially announced that Sam Taylor-Johnson has been hired to direct the film adaptation of the erotic bestseller "Fifty Shades of Grey".
The story follows the relationship of 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele.
Taylor-Johnson most recently helmed 2009's young John Lennon feature "Nowhere Boy," and the critically acclaimed Palme D'Or-nominated short "Love You More".
She has recently been at work developing a film adaptation of Robert Goorlick's novel "A Reliable Wife" for Sony Pictures.
Of her hiring, producer Michael De Luca says: "Sam's unique ability to gracefully showcase complex relationships dealing with love, emotion and sexual chemistry make her the ideal director to bring Christian and Anastasia's relationship to life. E L James’ characters and vivid storytelling require a director who is willing to take risks and push the envelope where needed and Sam is a natural fit."

After rumours about the likes of David Cronenberg or Gus Van Sant taking on the reigns of one of the most popular novels of the decade, Deadline is reporting that Sam Taylor-Johnson is set to direct 50 Shades of Grey.Taylor-Johnson's previous films include 2008's Love You More and the 2010 Sundance film Nowhere Boy, which our Todd Brown quite liked, despite the challenges that the film's conceit has to overcome. The director's also received loads of tabloid press, for better or for worse, for marrying the much younger Aaron "Kick-Ass" Taylor-Johnson. Expect much to be made of this again when the tale of an older man seducing a younger woman gets bandied about in the tabloid media.I've not read the book, but do find the whole...

Yes, Universal Pictures and Focus Features have chosen a woman director, Brit Sam Taylor-Johnson ("Nowhere Boy"), to direct the film adaptation of E.L. James' global bestseller “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are producing the film. The book has sold over 70 million ebooks and printed copies worldwide. The trick with hiring the right director was finding someone who could handle the delicate sexual nuances of a highly erotic story on film without making audiences wriggle with discomfort. Weinstein Co. picked up 2009's BAFTA-nominated "Nowhere Boy," which tells the story of John Lennon (played by the filmmaker's husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in Liverpool, where he met the teenage Paul McCartney. But the movie did not pick up much traction in the U.S. Taylor-Johnson also directed the short "Love You More" which was nominated for the Palme D’Or in 2008. She is currently in development on a film for.

Exclusive: Sam Taylor-Johnson, whose directorial debut was 2009′s Nowhere Boy about the early life of John Lennon, has been secured to direct Fifty Shades Of Grey, the sizzling novel adaptation from Universal Pictures and Focus Features. Fellow Brit Kelly Marcel has written the script for the movie, based on El James’ bestseller that follows the relationship between 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele. TVLine hits rewind on the TV season’s biggest “What Happens Next” finales, then invites you to predict the cliffhanger outcomes
There were just as many questions as there were resolutions at the end of Glee‘s Season 4 finale.
Will and Emma got hitched in the choir room. New Directions pulled off the win at Regionals. And Brittany, having possibly made “the most important scientific breakthrough of the 21st century,” said goodbye to McKinley and headed off to start her work at MIT — without finishing her senior year! Previously on Glee, Rachel was tripping balls on nostalgia at her Funny Girl audition, so she hallucinated Original New Directions onto the stage with her, where they Didn’t Stop Believin’ together again. Blaine made it plain that he wanted to spend all his days of all of his life with perfect human being Kurt Hummel, even if they were still mostly broken up (but still hooking up at literally every opportunity). Brittany pulled down a perfect Sat score. And Ryder was teetering very near the edge of an apoplectic brain hemorrhage because these writers have a memory worse than Finding Nemo’s Dory but his stupid catfishing storyline just would not go away.

A ring was purchased, plans were made and a wedding did happen on the season finale of Glee. However, it was who got married that left us speechless!
Ryder Comes Face To Face With Catfish
Ryder (Blake Jenner) threatens New Directions — he won’t compete in Regionals until he finds out who’s catfish-ing him. He asks everyone to take out their phones, gets a bit violent and finally, Marley (Melissa Benoist) admits she’s catfish.
Marley begs to talk to Ryder, but he’s extremely upset. Before she can get many words out, Unique (Alex Newell) asks her to stop and confesses to being the real catfish. Ryder says he’ll never speak to Unique again.
Before going on stage at Regionals, Ryder admits that he’ll be quitting the glee club after the competition.

Carrie Underwood is singing the blues about her birthday. "It's actually not my birthday," the country star, who turned 30 on Sunday, tells Cmt Radio. I mean, I'll still, like, blow out candles and stuff because I want my wish, but it's not a birthday." Her hubby, Mike Fisher, on the other hand, loves all three decades of her in a sweet Tweet."30 years ago today my best friend was born," he wrote. "Happy birthday @carrieunderwood." A shelved film, which was to have starred Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan, is said to have inspired Mayank Austen Soofi's latest book. The Delhi-based author started work on Nobody Can Love You More, after rights to an earlier short story - which would have featured the veteran actors - were reportedly bought by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. "In 2008, during my second visit to Pakistan, I went alone at midnight to the Heera Mandi red light district in Lahore, attended a mujra and watched a lot of girls and musicians," Soofi told Digital Spy. "On returning to Delhi, I blogged about it and… I don't know how, a rumour started in the Indian media that Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali would be adapting my article on Heera Mandi into a film. There's been a lot of buzz about "Glee" Season 4 since rumors of departing cast members and a crushing season finale. But at Comic-Con on Saturday night, cast members Lea Michele (Rachel), Cory Monteith (Finn), Naya Rivera (Santana), Kevin McHale (Artie), Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina), Darren Criss (Blaine), and executive producers Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan, and Dante Diloreto cleared up all the rumors and offered the Comic-Con crowd scoop on Season 4 of "Glee."
Season 3 ended with the heartbreaking split of Finn and Rachel and much like Finchel fans, Michele wasn't happy about it, at least initially. "I was so mad when I read it in the script," she told the Comic-Con fans. "I cried all day during filming. But after reading it over and over and over again I finally understood that he was doing the right thing for Rachel."

So You Think You Can Dance continued a Season 8 tradition on Wednesday night of bringing us an inoffensive guest judge who lobbed softballs and/or followed the Nigel Lythgoe party line. The latest variation on this theme, Carmen Electra, brought a supple, new-age-y twist to the role, but she might have been just as effective if she’d held up placards with emoticons conveying her feelings about the various dances: “Happy,” “sad,” “sexy,” and “I’ve run out of vocabulary words.” The one thing that confused me about Electra’s judging stint, though, was her response to Cat Deeley’s question about her dance credentials.
