The Best Sociopolitical Commentary To Ever Hit The Internet
reeetardtm7 March 2020
One's Self is a technical marvel surpassed by only "Rick and Morty" and "The Office". Cooked up by Flick in a fever dream, he knew immediately upon waking up that he had struck gold. Guided by the wonderful minds of Forcewave11 and the rest of the crew, One's Self is the Best Sociopolitical Commentary of our time and I can say with full confidence that it will still be relevant hundreds of years in the future unlike other contemporary works such as "Better Call Saul". When beginning on the show Flick knew the beginning would be rough. He had afterall, no experience in show production. This never served to deter him as he knew that this work had to be shared with the rest of the world, or about 200 viewers. It centers around The Forerunners and Booker Cold, a brand new moderator who joins the team. By having us begin with the character who is newest to the team Flick has enabled us to 1) Grow organically with the main character, and 2) Show us the relationships between the other characters in a way that is intentionally misconstrued in order to avoid the pitfalls of characters who are already intimately familiar with one another and having to use exposition that services no one in the story except the viewer. We are immediately introduced to a slew of characters who are introduced very one dimensionally. As we get to know them though we recognize that they are all cursed with an equal humanity. I will avoid spoiling their character flaws but I will state that this story is a sort of neo-Star Wars if Star Wars had perfect execution. One theme of the show is about fatherhood and the adolescent destruction of many of the pillars upholding our childhood worldview. It may be subtle at first but it's a prominent theme in the series from the first act of the show. One's Self also touches up on regret and how we own up to our mistakes. Flick very clearly understands the curse of the human condition and perfectly showcases how we can become better than we currently our even if our framework is built upon feeble materials. All in all this show has a lot to say on the concepts of mortality, morality, fatherhood, sexuality, self-esteem and Society. I could go on forever but if I do, I would just make video essays and upload them to YouTube. I very highly recommend this series a million times over. This show will touch you in ways no other form of media has with its lovable characters and engaging storyline. 10/10

Why Machinima is dying
derelictcountry27 March 2020
I've been a fan of machinima ever since the early days of Red vs Blue and I think Burnie Burns would be horrified if he saw what has happened to me standard of this art form. Apparently the director is a big fan of Arby n the chief? But it gives way too much away with clichés, crimgey dialogue and poor filmmaking. Seriously why does anyone even watch this show? They clearly can't be watching as a joke as its clearly not funny and Flick is not a comedian. I should make better with my eyes closed. Just a shame this is what people appreciate nowadays, makes me feel sad I never got my machinima off the ground as it would be fifty times better than this pile of garbage.

One's Self - A Continuous Train-wreck of Machinima
foxexodus13 March 2020
When one happens to catch a glance upon "One's Self", they might think to themselves, "Oh, a new machinima currently in production?" without thinking more of it as they begin to watch. When the voice-over for the first episode began, I realized I made a horrid mistake. An entire show filled with awkward unnecessary sex scenes, to questionable camera movements that don't follow story beats, and finally a story so hard to comprehend even it's cast doesn't watch the show. The show-runner, Flick is a strange character indeed. One seriously must ponder on what makes a man such as Flick to create this.

Really interesting new Web series!

This is crazy, I wasn't aware there were shows like this being made online. I'm not familiar with this Halo game but wow, the characters are really cool and I love the twists and turns! My favourite character would probably be Sonia, she seems to be the strong female archtype we need to film these days, so well done to the writers on this. Will definitely be tuning for the rest of the series as it unfolds 😳

Love to see it!
OfficialMartinScosese27 March 2020
Wow, first off, great hustle out there. I love the artistic talent in the filmmaker's choice more and more by each episode viewing. I love the story of the characters and the fantastic plot is delightful to rewatch and show to new viewers of the series. It's so dense, every single image has so many things going on. The production backing this show is phenomenal how they spread their resources despite being funded by a rookie director and producer. About 95% of the show is manipulated practically and its structure stylistically designed to be in such a way in which it's like poetry; it rhymes .

Can't wait for the sequel series!

A treat that becomes a chilling enthralment, one of those closely observed dramas you will learn to love
antiwarus26 June 2020
"One's Self" is a movie that captivates the heart and soul of its autistic director, Flick, and his mediocre but lovable voice actors through the series that will bring laughs, drama and love to fill your Double McQuarter Pounder™ fuelled hearts to acute myocardial infarction.

This series is like Red vs Blue, Wrath of the Combine, and Arby 'n' the Chief.
