Nice story, but white men from Asia?
crtjr-6503831 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The Historians seem to be doing their best to portray Atilla the Hun as a White man from Hungary when all signs point to him as coming from central Asia. I get the images with his face that make him look damn near Roman, but we all know how people have made their attempt to white wash history. Priscus described him as: "Short of stature, with a broad chest and a large head; his eyes were small, his beard thin and sprinkled with grey; and he had a flat nose and swarthy skin" how does this convert to White Roman looking Hungarian? But the actors used & the attempts by the historians to place his origin in Hungary. The images shown look like the historians in the documentary. I surmise that somebody from back in the day is lying. Either those who made the images of Atilla the Hun look like the historians in the documentary or Priscus. However, it seems much more comfortable for the historians interviewed to toss Priscus' description and reach for others, which of course could have been a campaign to white wash history because of their inability to accept who really was Atilla the Hun. Plus, wasn't it Priscus' a historian sent to find out who was Atilla The Hun? He comes back with a lie and he's a dead man. Also, conjecture that the Huns were driven by climate change seems reasonable if you exclude Asian culture which oft times have exiled their own captains or war and military garrisons or even sent them out on conquests and tests of bravery and worthiness. Finally, to assume that because you cannot attest to where the Xiongnu were for 300 years means they disappeared and could not have been the ancestry of Atilla the Hun is extremely closed minded thinking for scientists and historians. The Huns very well could be from Hungary, however, they could just as easily have been Chinese Han, Xiongnu, Mongolian or even a combination of tribes and peoples sworn to loyalty during conquests. However, no other possibilities are given any serious consideration as those interviewed seem convinced they're Hungarian. However, I felted compelled to write this while 40 min into the show, so more could be revealed as I watch the entire show.
