First, in the Country, when Mr. and Mrs. Renkins offer Curious George a sample of their delicious grape harvest, Curious George trips into a gopher hole (bringing us to a Goof, as grapes are shown growing on small plants, instead of on vines). Anyhow, Mr. Renkins explains how underground tunnels are created by gophers' getting his greatest grapes, while Mrs. Renkins comments that those great gophers got his goat.
Now, Mr. and Mrs. Renkins hire the very irritating Mr. Calhoun the Gopher Getter, which alerts Curious George to warn the Three Gophers to tunnel into his yard across the fence for safety.
Well, the Man with the Yellow Hat shows Curious George the size of his giant fresh squash, which he wishes were yellow, but Curious George is more interested in burrowing underground by shovel, to rescue the Three Gophers.
Then, Bill the Country Neighbor Boy arrives to explain how a compass works, to tell which direction you want to go, so Curious George borrows Bill's compass, and Bill borrows Curious George's dirt because Ma Bunny has dug holes all over Bill's yard, and now Bill must fill them.
And then, Curious George asks to borrow Ma Rabbit to burrow underground, while Mr. Calhoun the Gopher Getter's gopher trap traps the gopher catcher himself, while Bill continues to borrow Curious George's dirt from the tunnel which Curious George and Ma Rabbit burrow.
But Mr. Calhoun the Gopher Getter plows with a crane to try to capture the Three Gophers, making a mess of the Renkins' grape patch, while Curious George and Ma Rabbit finish their connecting tunnel to warn the Three Gophers.
So, as Mr. Calhoun the Gopher Getter makes a mess of the Renkins' grape patch, he captures Curious George into the trap! But will Mr. and Mrs. Renkins, the Man with the Yellow Hat, Bill, Ma Rabbit and the Three Gophers be able to save the day as Curious George is trapped inside Mr. Calhoun the Gopher Getter's grape patch gopher trap as a "Monkey Underground?"

Next, in the City, when Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat visit Professor Wiseman at Museum of Science, Professor Wiseman introduces her new pet, Lucky the Kitten, who's too young to watch herself, so would Curious George kitten-sit, while Professor Wiseman and the Man with the Yellow Hat attempt to rescue dinosaur bones from City workers who excavate in all of the wrong places?
Now, back at Building 7, the Doorman asks Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund to watch the lobby until the Doorman assists an elderly tenant with her groceries, before Curious George carries Lucky the Kitten in a box to meet Hundley.
But, as Lucky the Kitten warms to Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund, Hundley sneezes because he's allergic to certain cats, as the Doorman explains that this must be one of those cats to which Hundley is allergic, so please keep her away from him.
Then, Curious George carries Lucky the Kitten upstairs to his apartment to play with a toy puppy, but Lucky the Kitten sneaks outside onto the balcony to observe Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund on the sidewalk below because she wants to play with him, but she's not allowed near him.
And then, Curious George decides to create his own Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund, by trying to figure what Lucky the Kitten likes about Hundley, and so Curious George observes Hundley closely, to figure that Lucky the Kitten likes the way Hundley sounds, smells and feels, so Curious George creates a wiener dog from his teddy bear, by adding an alarm clock, and the Man with the Yellow Hat's sock.
Well, both like the way it sounds and feels, but neither cares for the way the Man with the Yellow Hat's sock smells for some unexplained reason.
Yet, as Curious George attempts to retrieve Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund's cushion from the lobby, a notion to which Hundley objects, they pull from opposite directions. But, during the struggle, Lucky the Kitten hears Hundley through the heating vent and climbs inside to search for Hundley, before Curious George returns with Hundley's mattress!
And, while Curious George and Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund investigate, the Man with the Yellow Hat calls to inform Curious George that he and Professor Wiseman are on their way back with pizza and dinosaur bones!
So, will Curious George and Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund be able to sniff Lucky the Kitten from the wall? Will the Doorman be able to slice a door into the wall to rescue Lucky the Kitten? And will Professor Wiseman and the Man with the Yellow Hat be reunited with Lucky the Kitten after Curious George serves as "Cat Mother?"
