An atmospheric documentary with a critical Statement
DLochner2 January 2022
A very atmospheric documentary, which is mainly carried by the beautifully filmed pictures. A Sherpa breaks a taboo and accompanies two Russian climbers up a sacred mountain in Nepal. Foreign mountaineers are often praised for their top athletic performance. The main work is done by the porters, who are never Nepalese. And in this film, too, this tension between these two worlds is worked out precisely - while the Russian mountaineers drive to more speed, the Sherpas drag their luggage through meter-high snow. Based on a Nepalese family, the film shows how they see the mountains and how they value this as a sanctuary. In contrast to this, the western point of view and with the under-senselessness of climbing.
