Still A Lot Of Fun To Watch Even If It Stretches Credibility
ccthemovieman-119 January 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This is a continuation of the final episode of Season Four. It's not as riveting as Part I but it's still fast-paced and fun to watch. Yeah, there are a lot holes in the story and all the crime guys get info in minutes instead of days, but that's the CSI stories. They have a solve a crime in about 35 minutes of air time when normally it could take weeks or months to come up with the answers Mac, Stella and the rest of the team does.

At any rate, Elias Koteas makes a good villain here which is no surprise since he's played in many feature films and is a solid actor. He's the focus of Mac and the team, after Taylor (Gary Sinise) is almost drowned in a sinking car.

How they track down "Joe" (Koteas) is interesting. It's a little overly dramatic and stretches any credibility in parts (Stella clinging from a rooftop, Mac's shirt stopping a bullet, etc.) but it all keeps your interest.

Very Disappointing Follow-Up to Last Season's Cliffhanger
gpeevers25 September 2008
Warning: Spoilers
What a disappointing episode. Last year's finale was one of the stronger episodes of the series I have seen, with an interesting and compelling scenario and a strong guest starring performance by Elias Koteas. This episode which is a direct continuation of last seasons finale relies on ridiculous situations, coincidences, really bad decisions from at least four team members, needle in hay stack forensic miracles and then crappy one liners that belong with Horatio Kane and CSI Miami.

First off Mac is shot but because of some incredibly lucky circumstances the bullet doesn't break his skin? Then the woman who comes across Mac moments after he has escaped from a sinking car happens to be an accomplice to the crime and a teller at the bank that was robbed? Yes there is a reason for her to be in the area - but still its reaching.

It later turns out the aforementioned woman is a friend of Flack's sister who has borrowed the sisters car? Then the aforementioned woman is tortured by the bank robber but not killed, instead she accidentally impales herself on a spike that kills her? Later the bank robber (subject of a massive police hunt) is able to break back into the bank which is currently swarming with police investigating the original robbery and escape again with the money he hid there? Meanwhile the CSI's find some soil from the robbers shoe and in hours/minutes can find evidence it came with decaying railway ties in a particular lot in the city of New York? There are some other evidence issues that are perhaps a bit less glaring but still highly unlikely.
