Dune Movie Trivia: Hans Zimmer & Denis Villeneuve(Photo Credit –Instagram/Facebook)
Dune: Part Two is one of the biggest releases of this year. The good thing is fans of the franchise won’t have to wait longer to watch the movie in theatres. We are just a few days away from the release. The Denis Villeneuve directorial is a sequel to the 2012 film, based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name. The lead cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.
What made the 2021 Dune such a spectacular movie is its storytelling, visuals, performances, direction, cinematography and music. The movie excelled in every department, but the music stayed with the audience. Hans Zimmer composed the music for the film, which struck a chord with everyone who watched the movie. Zimmer even won accolades for his incredible work.

Dave Grohl goes in-depth about the Foo Fighters track “The Teacher,” which he penned as a tribute to his late mother Virginia, on the latest episode of the Song Exploder podcast.

Dave Grohl appeared on latest episode of the Song Exploder podcast, where he discussed “The Teacher” from Foo Fighters’ latest album, But Here We Are. As Grohl explained in heart-wrenching detail, the 10-minute rock epic was written in tribute to his mother, Virginia Grohl, who passed away in July 2022.
“I was with her for all of the time leading up to her passing,” Grohl told Song Exploder host Hrishikesh Hirway. “Everyday during that period, I would write something on the guitar, because I felt that if I didn’t have that release, I would explode. I would spend the day at the hospital and then try to translate it musically — with no clear intention of what I was trying to achieve. I was finding these chords and progressions that mirrored the way that I felt.”
Having come up with two separate demos, Grohl then tried putting them together: “These two...

Demi Lovato has already been the subject of a painfully honest documentary; now, the musician is going behind the camera to direct a new one.
Currently under the working title of “Child Star,” the film is co-directed by Lovato and Nicola Marsh, best known for her work on the Netflix docuseries “Song Exploder,” and represents Lovato’s debut project as a director. The film has already begun production, and is expected to release exclusively on Hulu sometime next year.
According to Hulu’s logline, the documentary focuses on the highs and lows of child stardom, looking at how the spotlight and fame affects their futures. Lovato will share her own experiences as a teen Disney Channel star in the feature, and the film will also feature interviews with other child stars, though other participants are currently being kept under wraps.

Demi Lovato is stepping into the director’s chair.
The singer, songwriter and actor will make their directorial debut with “Child Star” (working title), a feature-length documentary that aims to “deconstruct the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most famous former child stars, including Lovato,” according to a press release.
Lovato will co-direct alongside Nicola Marsh. Producers include Michael D. Ratner’s Obb Pictures, Lovato’s production banner Dlg and Scooter Braun’s Sb Projects. The three companies have worked together before on the pop star’s docuseries “Dancing With the Devil,” which premiered at SXSW in 2021 and received critical acclaim. “Dancing With the Devil” took a close look at Lovato’s personal life and struggles with addiction, particularly their near-fatal overdose in 2018.

Where to Watch “Watch the Sound”: Apple TV+
Most music docs are, by their nature, lodged in the past. If people aren’t being shown a moment gone by, they’re talking about it or disputing it or presenting an alternative version. So when “Watch the Sound with Mark Ronson” takes the opportunity to use the past as a bridge to creating something new in the present, you can feel the overall temperature of the project change. With Ronson as the on-screen captain through specific topics in music history, this Apple TV+ show doesn’t always live in that present. But when it does, it’s enough to make you wish there were a dozen more shows trying the same thing.
In some ways, “Watch the Sound” gets some of the best of both worlds. There’s a certain vicarious thrill in reliving a lightbulb moment,...

Netflix chief marketing officer Bozoma Saint John, along with Grammy-winning singer Lizzo and filmmaker-comedian Pardis Parker will explore “The Case For Optimism” — the theme of the Global Ted Conference, which is returning to Monterey, CA, and back in-person in August.
The event was virtual last year, like most others that weren’t canceled outright by the pandemic. Organizers said the upcoming series of talks will focus “on building a brighter future for everyone, celebrating the clear-eyed and the bold of heart, those who don’t shy away from the most intractable-seeming problems but rather step toward them to make the case that, even now, hope is possible.”

Paul Thomas Anderson has directed six music videos for the Haim sisters, whose 2020 rock album “Women in Music Pt. III” is nominated at the Grammys for Album of the Year later this year. But it turns out the “Phantom Thread” and “Boogie Nights” director has impacted Haim’s music far more than just from behind the camera. On this week’s episode of the “Song Exploder” podcast, the band and their collaborators revealed that Anderson played a key role in writing the bridge of the song “Summer Girl” after he sent over unused movie dialogue for the Haim members to use however they wanted.
The story begins when Anderson told the band they should all get together and film a music video for “Summer Girl,” but the problem was the song was not finished yet. As band member Este Haim said, “We were like to Paul, ‘Wait, pump the breaks.

The music documentary resurgence is alive and well and set to continue into 2021 with an insatiable appetite for weird and wild movies about bands and artists. The release over recent years of films such as Amy and Searching For Sugar Man kicked off a trend that has been amplified by interest from the streaming services.
This year, there have been fantastic rock docs including Laurel Canyon, The Beastie Boys Story, The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne, The Go-Go’s, Creem: America’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll Magazine, The Changin’ Times of Ike White, Coachella: 20 Years In the Desert, The Bee Gees: How You Can Mend a Broken Heart, Blind Melon’s All I Can Say, Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds With Shane MacGowan, Song Exploder, Other Music and Zappa.
While there has been the regular churning of promotional films masquerading as documentaries, there have been more well researched deep dives into artists than ever before.

1. “Bridgerton” Season 1
Why Should I Watch? Starring “Derry Girls” icon Nicola Coughlan and featuring Julie Andrews as a narrator named Lady Whistledown, Shonda Rhimes’ first Netflix original series already has three solid gold reasons to try out the hipper, hotter version of “Downton Abbey,” but here are a few more details. The period drama is based on Julia Quinn’s historical romance novels, where Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market. But the eight-book series obviously needs more than just one character’s love story to fill all those pages, so you can expect to see the other Bridgerton children caught up in romantic entanglements of their own.
Bonus Reason: A sexy period drama from the mind behind “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” that’s also an adaptation of a massively popular book series where all...

Translating a podcast to a TV screen is a multi-pronged challenge. For a show like “Song Exploder,” hosted in its audio form over various stretches of its nearly seven-year run by Hrishikesh Hirway, that transfer of ideas meant going from listening to seeing in more ways than one.
Luckily for Hirway, when it came to the start of each episode of the new “Song Exploder” Netflix documentary series, he already had a solid foundation. Like so many other aspects of the TV project, it was a matter of building on what was already there.
“The theme music for the TV show is actually the same opening from the podcast, but with other stuff added on top of it,” Hirway told IndieWire. “The theme on the podcast is a pretty simple thing, a little synth part and a drum part. I kept them and added orchestration on top of it, violins and horns,...

Update: According to the most recent list from Decider, there are actually only 8 movies being released today, and 1 TV series.
Yesterday marked the beginning of a new month, and that obviously brought with it plenty of fresh Netflix shows and films for subscribers to dig through. Between the cerebral Will Ferrell flick Stranger Than Fiction, Clint Eastwood’s emotional Gran Torino, and the classic Jim Carrey comedy Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, there’s truly something for everyone already available.
Even so, today’s second Netflix content drop of October has delivered another awesome collection of great stuff to check out. Most notably, there are quite a lot of new Netflix Originals to sit down with, including a highly-anticipated series and a documentary that has garnered a decent amount of attention in recent weeks.
First up, you’ll want to take a look at Emily in Paris, a new comedy...

Netflix has a whole lot of spooks up its sleeve for the month of October.
From Adam Sandler’s “Hubie Halloween” (Oct. 7) to the “Hill House” follow-up “The Haunting of Bly Manor” (Oct. 9), the Halloween-themed goodness is in high supply next month. Watch Netflix’s little teaser reel above.
If you want a gory horror film, try “Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight” (Oct. 28). Other new creepy flicks include “His House” (Oct. 30) “Cadaver” (Oct. 22) and Spanish-language film “The Day of the Lord” (Oct. 30).
For a younger audience, there’s “Vampires vs. the Bronx” (Oct. 2) and “The Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting” (Oct. 15).
In terms of TV, get ready for Volume 2 of Netflix’s “Unsolved Mysteries” reboot series (Oct. 19), and also check out Season 1 of CBS’ “Evil” (Oct. 1) about a forensic psychologist who comes face to face with evidence that challenges her disbelief in supernatural phenomena.
For some non-Halloween-themed content,...
