I saw this film at the Frameline Festival in San Francisco. Frameline always picks the best and sometimes obscure films for their festivals. Flight to Sinai was no exception. Billed as a gay/Christian musical, it was the opening film for a documentary, though I enjoyed it more then the documentary. I don't think I am biased towards this film because I identify as both a lesbian AND a Christian, this film is just so touching without being overly sentimental....though it IS missing a lesbian character, I wont hold it against the writer/director (who apparently makes a hilarious appearance as the drama teacher). The songs are quite good, and the acting is good too--though the guy who played the other gay Christian steals the scenes he is in. Good production value and a good script/pacing by the director kept me interested... though I think it should have been a feature. While 30 minutes may have been pushing it in time length for short film, I was left wanting more... and not because of the ending... I just really cared for the characters and the message of the film. Now come on guys, make it a feature, or a TV Show for a gay channel, or bring it out on DVD. I want more!
