The best part of this episode was the story line involving Otis and Ruby. Finally we got to explore the other side of Ruby, her real side, something she had been hiding from the world. Till now, all the boys were attracted to her only for her beauty, they weren't really interested in knowing what kind of life she lived outside of School. But Otis never really believed in having superficial relationships, he always believed in developing connections and made an effort to know the real side of the person. While others saw Ruby as an arrogant beauty queen, Otis treated her as just another human being. This unexpected affection surprised Ruby, and allowed her to be vulnerable in front of him. Till now, all the viewers were rooting for Otis and Maeve to get together, but the bond developed between Otis and Ruby came out of nowhere. I had no idea, that this would be such an enjoyable thing to watch, and dare I say, I like the pairing of Otis and Ruby way more than Otis and Maeve. And that's why, it was heartbreaking to see what happened at the end of the episode. The reaction that Ruby (Mimi Keene) gave after her phone call with Otis was heart wrenching and I am pretty sure it must have melted millions of hearts worldwide. Her silent face spoke a thousand words. What's worse is that the writers somehow forgot about Ruby in the second half of the show. Asa Butterfield (Otis Milburn) has always been fabulous as far as acting performance is concerned, but what Mimi Keene (Ruby Matthews) did in this episode was quite a revelation, her portrayal of the Ruby that she had hidden from the outside world was just beautiful. I would love to explore more of her works and really hope that she gets noticed by filmmakers worldwide so that we get to see her in even better roles than this one.

Ruby actually has feelings but WTF are you doing Otis

Great episode. The uniforms segment was great, the double date was great, it was nice to see Maeve and her Mother trying to fix things and it's interesting the situation in Otis' house with Ola and all that stuff. I can't believe Ruby actually is in love with Otis, but Otis is still thinking about Maeve, now I feel sorry for Ruby.
I SHIP RUBY and OTIS

Maeve and Otis are great and everything, but Ruby really won my heart with this episode. I loved her character so much and she had such great potential. But, oh, well, she was completely rejected after the first half of the show. Wasted potential, sadly. I am giving it 10 because this episode warmed my heart and made me really happy. It was very unexpected, to find Ruby being an absolute opposite from what one would expect. Maeve is moving away to 'Merica now, Otis should get together with Ruby.
Also, a note of warning. The last few episodes felt a bit off and out of content. There were many monologues and no plot, not much progress. Im quite apprenhensive this show would turn out to be just like the other once-great netflix show - 13 *ahem-ahem*. Please. Dont ruin it. To summarize, great, fantasitc episode, this one!

Oh come on writers, why must you do this to my soul. This was a very good episode, the character development for Ruby was amazing but Otis is being a knob again.
Please for the sake of my sanity writers, please stop making me like characters and have to watch Otis ruin it.

We accept the love we think we deserve

This is how it should be done!
Ruby as a character just rocked it, that's what you call character development.
Starting as a rough and shallow... but even so her love towards Otis was visible in the first episode as well; she didn't deny that she was with Otis... Anyway, a huge pity, I believe that it would have been better to devote the whole season to this relationship, it would have added more weight & value... and it would be more realistic... but as someone said: "We accept the love we think we deserve."

Ruby's season

Great character development under layers of makeup and nail polishing. Really love her.
The opposite with Maeve and Jean, tbh. I know characters grow but what about their fierceness from season 1? I have the sense that they've been tamed not reacting like their true themselves. Still love them, though.
Still despise the character of Ola. So demanding. She asked for understanding and to be apologized to even though she might have made the same or worse mistakes than Otis did. Can't stand the character since day 1.

Good episode but was the opening really needed?

Love the series but the opening scene with the cat death was extremely unnecessary and honestly pretty upsetting for me.
Giving it a 5 because the episode was good aside from that. Gratuitous violence against animals just leaves a sour taste in my mouth and it absolutely shouldn't have been presented as humorous.

What a character!! I love Ruby and I hope Otis and Ruby can have another chance next season! I think they bring out the best in each other, oddly enough. I loved this episode when we went to her house and met her dad and got to see the real her. Heart breaking at the end but man Mimi killed that part!
I'm getting high in Minneapolis!

This one has a startling opening that is a bit bloody and shocking, but it's not as horrible as some are saying. The episode as a whole is still really good. I love seeing the characters do things that you may not have guessed they would do, but it still works and doesn't seem out of place. Also I live in Minneapolis and I enjoyed the reference to it in this episode.
Most of people are really stupid and shallow

I usually don't waste time by writing a review but after reading some comments here we go.
There are like thousands of unnecessary scenes on many legendary shows like rick and morty for example!
Although it wasn't particularly unnecessary.
It is natural to show different sex behaviors in this show!
For ex. Using sex as a defense mechanism instead of grief over a loss so please educate yourself before commenting negative stupid sh..t on a great show.

Stop being offended by the cat
rasmuseklof-6252512 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The cat is not real, its not dead. No animals were hurt in the making of this show. Show is called Sex Education, to educate people about sex problems. Having sex after a pet is killed is a problem. Other than that, i am all in for Ruby, hopefully Otis does not ruin it. Would be so mad.
Stealthily emotional

This episode has a ton of heart. This isn't even typical of me but I teared up three times - and one of them was a full on cry. The stuff with Maeve and her neighbor is so good- that guy is a fantastic actor. Eric feeling unsafe in Nigeria and rejected at home is highlighted so sadly at the end. I think this might be the best of the season.
Unnecessary Opening

I love ruby so much this season but honestly she deserves better than Otis? I mean i do find it odd that she would say that she loves him this quickly especially since she barely even liked him not too long ago. Anyways im giving it a 9 only because of the cat scene that was COMPLETELY unnecessary and traumatizing for people like me with pets!
CHANGED MOORDALE!
AyonSahaa17 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Another good episode. Love to see the new look of Moordale school. Moordale has their own uniform now and I like the combination of this new uniform so much.
Jakob - Jean - Otis - Ola! They are officially a family now, lol! Some part of the episode was so hilarious like the goat's poop scene. The episode is trying to feel the audience's pity for Isaac.
The two couple's hangout scene is interesting. Good character development of Moordale headmistress and Jackson's new crush, Cal is seen.
I felt disturbed at one thing. What's the point about the cat scene? The scene showed like it's a comedy. But no! That's not. Violence is not a comedy man!

Favorite episode of season 3 thus far
mostlyharmless-3072811 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was easily my favorite episode of season 3 so far. It had a lot of heart and really dug into understanding character's individuality. The cat scene was awful; probably the most traumatizing thing I've seen on tv, but people seem to think it was done for humorous purposes, and it was absolutely not. We see in the end that it was done to show the importance of facing grief or hardship no matter how terrible.
