"The Adirondacks" is a DVD from PBS video and I try to watch just about everything that they release. I love their historical films, biographies and, well, pretty much everything. However, I was not particularly impressed with "The Adirondacks" and found it surprisingly dull--surprising because PBS's series on the National Parks was so good.
This show has a direct from video look and I do think it was made with standard home-style video recorders. This isn't necessarily bad, as lower budgeted niche films would be prohibitively expensive to make otherwise. Some of the show (the best parts) are about the history of this region of New York, painters in the region and the like. Unfortunately, at two hours, there is just a lot of content that is boring and could EASILY have been cut out in order to tighten up the show and make it more watchable. As it is, the show DRAGS horribly and I found the longer I watched the more my interest waned. Greatly in need of editing in order to make it interesting to anyone not 100% obsessed with these mountains.
